“I need a NAV and Drake collab so bad"
Rapper Drake took to Instagram to troll fellow Canadian rapper NAV on September 20, 2021.
Drake has been known to troll fellow celebrities from time to time including American rapper Joe Budden.
Prompted by a viral video of a lookalike, the rapper targeted NAV.
He posted a picture of NAV, acknowledging their uncanny resemblance to each other.
Drake captioned the image:
“I look good AF right here… good morning world.”
The post led to a hilarious lookalike exchange between the pair on Instagram, with NAV responding with a similar picture.
He shared an edited picture of Drake’s 2011 album Take Care but with his head edited onto Drake’s body.
The duo’s brief Instagram exchange led some social media users to speculate that a collaboration is on its way.
Social media lit up and fans rushed to share their excitement.
One fan tweeted: “I need a NAV and Drake collab so bad man PLEASE.”
Another person said: “I hope this means we’re getting Brown Boy x Certified Lover Boy on NAV’s next album.”
The pair have worked together in the past, with NAV co-producing Drake’s 2015 track ‘Back to Back’.
Drake’s OVO Sound Radio also featured two of NAV’s songs, ‘The Man’ and ‘Take Me Simple’ in 2015.
They have also worked with many of the same producers including Metro Boomin, Wheezy and WondaGurl.
However, the pair, who both hail from Toronto, are yet to work on a song together.
The Weeknd is a mutual friend of NAV and Drake, and NAV is currently signed to the Weeknd’s record label, XO Records.
In the past, NAV has been vocal about his admiration for Drake.
He said: “He really kicked down the door for us,
“He started everything. There’s always gonna be appreciation for what he’s done for us.”
NAV, whose real name is Navraj Singh Goraya, hails from a Sikh family.
The star was born in Toronto and was introduced to the music scene by his uncle, who was a renowned singer in Punjab.
Drake is one of the most famous western rappers among the Punjabi community.
Alongside NAV, he has also been linked to Sidhu Moosewala.
The Punjabi singer was spotted at Wireless 2021 and fans speculated a collaboration as Drake performed a surprise set.
NAV’s last studio album, Good Intentions, came out in May 2020.
Meanwhile, Drake released his long-awaited sixth studio album, Certified Lover Boy, on September 3, 2021.
