Pakistani television actress Ayeza Khan has recreated Sridevi’s iconic ‘Mere Haathon Mein’ dance.

Ayeza, who is the most followed Pakistani celebrity on Instagram with 10 million followers, shared the video on the social media platform which has been liked by over 900,000 people.

In it, she can be seen dancing her heart out to the song recorded by legendary Indian singer, Lata Mangeshkar for the 1989 Bollywood film Chandni starring late actors Sridevi and Rishi Kapoor.

Dressed in pink and orange, Ayeza added the caption:

“Geeti ki shaadi… Are you ready?”

This is a reference to her character Geeti’s upcoming wedding in the HUM TV serial, Laapata, after she got engaged to Shams, portrayed by Ali Rehman Khan.

In the short video clip, Ayeza replicates the same moves made famous by Sridevi in the film.

Her fans flooded the comments section, with many posting love hearts and praising the actress’ moves.

On her favourite actresses, Ayeza previously said:

“Amongst so many of my favourite actresses, Sridevi has and will always be on the top.

“It’s a pity that she left us so soon. An inspiration for me, as an actress and a mother.”

Sridevi was widely regarded as the first female superstar of India after debuting as a child actress in a Tamil film at the age of four in 1967 before becoming a permanent fixture in Hindi cinema.

Her 300th and final film role was in the 2017 crime thriller Mom before she died of accidental drowning in a bathtub in her hotel room in Dubai the following year.

Some of her standout films include the 1986 romance film, Nagina and Mr India opposite Anil Kapoor in 1987 which is where her famous dance to the song ‘Hawa Hawaii’ came from.

Meanwhile, Ayeza Khan began her career as an actress when she was 18-years-old making her debut with a supporting role in the comedy-drama, Tum Jo Miley, which aired on Hum TV in 2009.

After taking on a series of supporting roles, she became the lead in Geo TV serial, Tootay Huway Per, in 2011 and many other shows across multiple television channels following on from this.

However, the actress’ stand out performance was in the romantic drama Meray Paas Tum Ho between 2019 and 2020, earning her critical acclaim as well as the Pakistan International Screen Award for Best Television Actress.

Ayeza’s current show, Laapata, has recently divided fans after the airing of a controversial slap scene in episode 12.
