"Had they not, it would have been just another day."

On February 15, 2021, Amitabh Bachchan celebrated 52 years of being in the Indian film industry.

He expressed his gratitude to all those who sent well-wishes to the iconic actor.

Amitabh began his career with Khwaja Ahmad Abbas’ action-drama Saat Hindustani, which he signed on February 15, 1969.

The film released nine months later on November 7.

Amitabh Bachchan shared a collage made by a fan, showing his transformation over the past five decades.

In response to the netizen, Amitabh wrote:

“It was today that I entered the film industry. February 15, 1969. 52 years! Gratitude.”

Amitabh also took to his blog and thanked his fans for making his cinematic journey a memorable one.

He stated that if it was not for his “extended family”, the milestone would have been just “another day”.

He wrote: “As the night slips into the next day… it slips into the gap of 52 years of my commencement in the film world.

“A chapter that the very effective concerned and loving EF (extended family) remember and portray through their wishes and communications and artistic representations.

“It is most alluring to see and hear and read what they gift.

“Had they not, it would have been just another day. One that was spent in the struggle of life.”

After his debut, Amitabh Bachchan was praised for his performances in films like Anand (1971) and 1972 film Bombay to Goa.

However, it was his role in Zanjeer in 1973 which saw his rise to prominence.

The film marked the beginning of the “angry young man” persona that became Amitabh’s screen identity and lifelong adjective, reflecting the anxieties that the urban Indian youth faced, such as unemployment, corruption and crime.

He continued to appear in films of various dramas like the romance Kabhie Kabhie to the classic Sholay.

Amitabh experienced a dull phase during the 1990s, where his financial losses with his company Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited (ABCL) was a contributing factor.

He made a successful comeback in 2000 with Mohabbatein.

That year, he turned to the small screen and became the host of popular game show Kaun Banega Crorepati.

Amitabh is still part of the show, finishing the 12th season in January 2021.

Amitabh continues to be one of Bollywood’s biggest stars, with at least four films in the pipeline.

He is set to be a part of Brahmastra, Mayday, Jhund and thriller Chehre.

His last release was Gulabo Sitaboo, which was released on Amazon Prime Video due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
