"I’m his son and his biggest fan."
Abhishek Bachchan has said that he has been humbled by his father, legendary Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan’s pride.
The actor’s comments come after Bachchan senior praised him for his work in the upcoming film Bob Biswas (2021).
Amitabh Bachchan took to both his Twitter and Instagram accounts to share the movie trailer.
On both platforms, he wrote:
“I am proud to say you are my son.”
Now, Bachchan junior has reacted to his father’s praise. He told Mid-Day:
“I was bowled over and overwhelmed, and I continue to be.
“I’m his son and his biggest fan.
“To get your idol to recognise your work, to see your work is a huge compliment in itself.
“Let alone if you do good work and he thinks you’ve done good work.
“The fact that he saw the trailer and felt the need to write something about it, is humbling.”
“I’m panicking now because I want the film to be even better because he’s got certain hopes now, and you don’t want his hopes to come crashing down.”
Bob Biswas is a spin-off based on the fictional character of the same name from the film Kahaani (2012), starring Vidya Balan.
Originally portrayed by Saswata Chatterjee, the crime thriller will now follow Bachchan’s character in his life as a paid killer.
The actor put on weight for the role as he was not willing to use CGI or prosthetics. As Bob Biswas, Bachchan weighed around 105kg.
He had been told to wear a bodysuit but explained:
“I did try it on, I like to give everybody a fair opportunity. I wasn’t happy with it because of the lack of movement.
“When you put a prosthetic stomach, it is very inanimate. And you look fake somewhere.”
He continued: “When you do prosthetics on the cheeks, it looks like a prosthetic. The stomach also moves in a different way.
“When you have that weight and you are physically carrying that weight, your entire performance changes because your body language changes your weight, your movement, your walk, your run, everything changes.”
The film has been produced by Gauri Khan, Sujoy Ghosh, and Gaurav Verma. It also marks the directorial debut of Diya Annapurna Ghosh.
Alongside Abhishek Bachchan, Bob Biswas also stars Chitrangada Singh and will premiere on ZEE5 on Friday, December 3, 2021.
