the festival would bring together performers and artists
The Arts Council of Pakistan has announced that the World Culture Festival 2025 will be held from October 30 to December 7, 2025.
This year’s event promises to be historic, with more than 800 artists from 102 countries expected to participate in Karachi.
Arts Council President Ahmed Shah revealed the details at a press conference, where singer Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was present.
He explained the official announcement had been delayed due to monsoon rains, Independence Day activities, and conflict with India.
Shah emphasised that the festival would bring together performers and artists from every continent, making it Pakistan’s largest cultural initiative ever.
According to him, 31 African countries, 30 Asian nations, and 26 European states will participate alongside others globally.
Painters and sculptors from 20 countries will exhibit their work, while films, music, theatre, and dance have been added for 2025.
Shah highlighted that the 2024 edition featured artists from 44 countries, but 2025’s festival represents a dramatic leap in scale.
He credited the Sindh government for supporting the Arts Council’s vision and enabling what he described as a ground-breaking cultural gathering.
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has been appointed the brand ambassador of the festival, representing its global reach and international artistic appeal.
He will perform on the closing day, December 7, 2025, providing a memorable finale for one of Pakistan’s most ambitious cultural undertakings.
Speaking at the launch, Khan expressed gratitude, stating he felt privileged to be part of a festival of such immense magnitude.
He said cultural celebrations must take place in all provinces, reflecting his recent experience performing during Independence Day events in Sukkur.
Ahmed Shah also addressed the question of Indian artists’ participation, explaining that invitations were planned before India launched attacks against Pakistan.
He remarked that while artistic collaboration is valuable, political hostility has disrupted the possibility, though future reconciliation remains a hopeful prospect.
The World Culture Festival is designed as a celebration of diversity, unity, and creativity.
Organisers believe the event will not only strengthen cultural ties but also elevate the country’s image on a global cultural stage.
The participation of over 100 nations underscores Pakistan’s role in fostering cultural dialogue through music, art, and performance.
With its mix of heritage, contemporary art, and global talent, the World Culture Festival aims to inspire audiences and promote shared human values.
