"Just arrest her and get her behind bars."
Yuvika Chaudhary was arrested for using a casteist slur. She has since been granted interim bail.
The Bigg Boss 9 contestant was charged under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act (SC/ST Act) 1989.
She was apprehended by Haryana Police on Monday, October 18, 2021, for her use of the remark in a video that soon went viral.
However, Chaudhary has since been released on interim bail by Punjab and Haryana High Court, her lawyer Ashok Bishnoi confirmed.
He said: “My client has joined the investigation as per the guidelines given by the High Court and she is on interim bail now in a case of alleged offensive remarks against Scheduled Castes on a social media platform.”
It came after the actress appeared in a vlog shot by her husband, Prince Narula in May 2021, and used the slur.
After the video was shared, a case was filed against her by Dalit rights activist Rajat Kalsan, who submitted a copy of it to the Haryana Police force.
Netizens were also not pleased and the hashtag #ArrestYuvikaChaudhary quickly began to trend across social media.
One person tweeted: “Just arrest her and get her behind bars.”

Govt should punish such people for using casteist slur and set an example for society so that in the name of fun this privileged people should not use such words again.#PMOIndia #MumbaiPolice #Bmc #Casteist_Termites #rajthackeray #adityathackeray— Abhay Kumar (@whoelseabhay) May 26, 2021
However, some disagreed with the hashtag.
Issue kya hai she just making fun of a situation with her frends and casual jokes jo sab karte hai.

Yuvika Chaudhary later issued an apology on social media.
She said: “Hi guys, I didn’t know the meaning of that word I used in my last vlog. I didn’t mean to hurt anyone and I can never do that to hurt someone.
“I apologise to each and every one. I hope you understand, love you all.”
However, her apology did not sit well with some people.
One person replied: “If you don’t know the meaning of the word, don’t say it.
“Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt.”
The arrest and subsequent release come after Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda and television actress Mummun Dutta were previously criticised for making casteist slurs earlier in 2021.
The actress has appeared in Bollywood movies including Om Shanti Om (2007) as well as Kannada movie Maleyali Jotheyali (2009).
However, she is best known for appearing as a contestant on reality show Bigg Boss 9 in 2015, where she met her husband and eventual winner, Indian model Prince Narula.
The pair married in 2018.
In 2019, Yuvika Chaudhary and Prince Narula participated and won Nach Baliye 9.
