"I think people really wanted a reason to laugh"
Sheena Melwani is a talented singer, songwriter and social media influencer.
She gained widespread popularity through humorous and engaging content on platforms like TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram.
Born and raised in Canada, she comes from an Indian background.
Her content often reflects her cultural heritage, blending humour, music, and family dynamics.
Sheena’s love for music started at an early age but before her social media fame, she shared covers and original songs on various platforms.
Her soothing voice and versatility across pop and classical genres attracted early attention.
In addition to music, Sheena uses her platform to promote positivity, mental health awareness, and inclusivity.
Sheena currently lives with her husband and two children in Natick, Massachusetts, USA.
Sheena Melwani’s rise to mainstream fame began during the Covid-19 pandemic when she started performing concerts online.
In a conversation with The Boston Globe, Sheena said:
“I did Facebook Live events, singing, sharing my stories and sometimes I would be a human jukebox and take requests.
“One night, I had my camera set up and thought I would record a song for Instagram, titled, ‘If the World Was Ending’.
“My husband didn’t realise I was filming.
“He was being himself and talking about what a terrible idea it was to come over if the world was ending, and it went viral.
“I put it on TikTok. I think people really wanted a reason to laugh and enjoyed the formula of music and comedy.”

A key part of Sheena’s success comes from her playful interactions with her husband.
Although he stays off-camera, his voice and sarcastic interruptions create an entertaining dynamic.
Her husband, Dinesh Melwani, is also known as “The Real Indian Dad”.
Fans lovingly started calling him TRID for short.
Dinesh is reportedly a transactional attorney and a member of Mintz Levin.
His witty commentary adds a unique twist, blending humour with Sheena’s musical talent.
Fans love the playful banter between the two, making her videos both funny and heartwarming.
Initially, her husband remained anonymous, adding to the intrigue of their dynamic, but he has since become a central part of her brand.
The couple promised their fans they would reveal his face once their YouTube channel reached one million subscribers.
In July 2022, he finally unveiled his face in the music video for his wife’s song, ‘Better’.
But her husband still prefers to stay behind the camera and not show his face.
Whenever he is seen in the videos, his face is covered with an animated sticker.
