New Delhi saw a sea of fashion and style grace its city during the Shaan-E-Pakistan extravaganza between September 10 and 12, 2015.
The three day fashion festivity, which was held at the Grand Hotel, brought a cultural fusion of Pakistani and Indian couture with its designs, set, and symbolic incorporation.
The opening ceremony saw the two nations’ flags come together in a sign of unity, setting the feel good ambiance for the entire three days.
The celebration of sub-continental fashion saw the likes of Rinku Sobti, Poonam Bhagat, Zainab Chottani, and Umer Sayeed all showcase their exquisite designs.
But it was Ali Xeeshan’s ‘After Dark’ collection that truly stole our hearts. Presenting an assortment of luxury brocades, raw silks, and rich colours, his gorgeous designs were spellbindingly beautiful.
The stunning embroidered detailing, along with the well structured designs created perfect silhouettes on the models, and definitely stole the show.
Huma Nassr, the curator of the event, also unveiled her collection, which witnessed detailed fabrics from both Indian and Pakistani workmen.
Huma worked tirelessly to ensure the success of this fashion alliance, and she did just that.
Speaking of her aspirations, she commented:
“I want Shaan-e-Pakistan to become a council where the best of Indo-Pak designers can come together.
“I have specifically put together the best of the line cross-border people be in designers, PR companies or chefs.”
But it wasn’t just those three sectors than graced the event. Film stars and models also came out in full force.
Film maker, Mahesh Bhatt, Pakistani actor, Javed Sheikh, and models such as Nadia Hussain, Saima Azhar, Ria Khan, Anam Tanveer, and Usman Patel sashayed their stuff over the three days.
Turning showstoppers for designers Rajneeral Babutta and Jyoti Sachdev Iyer were Indian actress and model, Aditi Govitrikar and Evelyn Sharma.
Shaan-e-Pakistan even collaborated the Indo-Pakistan cultures through its music choices, with hits such as ‘Aao Huzoor Tumko’, ‘Chalte Chalte Yun Hi Hoi Mil Gaya Tha’, and ‘Sone Di Tavitri’ playing throughout.
With star studded faces, exquisite designers, and a cultural marriage, Shaan-e-Pakistan was a definite fashion success.
