Odisha’s Jyotirmayee Nayak has been crowned the winner of Indian Idol Season 16 after months of fierce and soulful competition.
She beat five fellow finalists to take home the coveted title and prize money of Rs 20 lakh.
The finalists she defeated were Anshika Chonkar, Manraj Veer Singh, Myscmme Bosu, Suhail Sufi and Tanishk Shukla in the grand finale.
Jyotirmayee’s journey through the season was marked by consistently impressive performances that moved judges and audiences alike.
Among her most celebrated moments was her rendition of ‘O Jab Tak Hai Jaan Jaane Jahan Main Nachungi’ during the competition.
That performance earned her a standing ovation from veteran Bollywood actress Hema Malini.
Her version of ‘Jaane Kyun Log Mohabbat Kiya Karte Hain’ left actress Leena Chandavarkar deeply moved and captivated by her voice.
Leena Chandavarkar was so moved that she expressed a heartfelt wish to hear the iconic track in Jyotirmayee’s voice again.
Beyond her Indian Idol journey, Jyotirmayee is already a recognised name within the Odia music industry back home in Odisha.
She has also worked meaningfully with cancer patients through the healing and deeply compassionate practice of music therapy.
Speaking after her emotional and hard-fought win, Jyotirmayee said:
“Winning Indian Idol Season 16 feels absolutely surreal.
“From walking into the auditions with nothing but a dream to standing here as the winner, this journey has truly been life-changing.
“Every performance challenged me to become a better singer, performer, and person, and I’ll always cherish everything I’ve learnt along the way.”
She also took a moment to express deep gratitude toward the channel, the production house and all the judges of the season.
The winner made clear that the trophy did not belong to her alone but to everyone who had stood by her throughout.
“I hope to continue making music that touches hearts, keeps me learning, and makes everyone proud.”
The grand finale was a spectacular celebration of music featuring judges Shreya Ghoshal and Badshah as part of the evening.
The night also saw a host of legendary and beloved artists make special appearances to mark the occasion memorably.
Usha Uthup, Udit Narayan, Papon and Kumar Sanu all joined the finale celebrations with performances and warm interactions throughout the evening.
Shehnaaz Gill and Urmila Matondkar also graced the grand finale, adding considerable glamour and festivity to the celebratory night.
Jyotirmayee Nayuk’s win has been celebrated widely across Odisha, with fans and well-wishers proud of her groundbreaking achievement.
