"Our family mourns the passing of Suneil Anand."

On July 26, 2026, Suneil Anand passed away at the age of 70. He suffered a heart attack in London, UK.

Suneil was born on June 30, 1956, and was the only son of the veteran Bollywood actor Dev Anand.

His mother, Mona Singha, professionally known as Kalpana Kartik, also had a brief acting career in the 1950s.

Suneil also had a sister named Devina Anand.

He had a brief and unsuccessful acting career. In 1984, Dev Anand launched him in a film named Anand Aur Anand (1984).

However, that film failed to establish Suneil and after appearing in a few more films, he ultimately quit the profession.

His final film was Vagator Mixer, which he also directed.

Since leaving acting, Suneil Anand continued private business ventures and also oversaw the running of his father’s production banner, Nav Ketan Films.

Suneil passed away in the same city as his father did on December 3, 2011, at the age of 88.

In an official statement, Suneil’s niece, Gina Narang, said: “With heavy hearts, our family mourns the passing of Suneil Anand.

“We are comforted by the outpouring of love, prayers, and support, for which we are truly grateful.

“We kindly request privacy as we navigate this difficult time together.”

Suneil remained a torchbearer of Dev Anand’s legacy all his life.

In an interview, he stated: “My father was my best friend. I could confide in him.

“I could talk to him about anything and he could speak to me about anything.

“He was always there for me and so was I for him. We were a great team.”

“My father was very modern, he changed with the times, he knew what was happening around him, he was very up-to-date, read newspapers and watched television.

“He saw world cinema and understood cinema of every nation.

“He came from an era that was close to Hollywood.

“He was very approachable. That was the greatness of the man, he had humility, and he was humble.

“He never made demands when it came to food and eating. He was a good-hearted, gentle and loving soul.”

In an interview with Simi Garewal, Dev Anand opened up about his son’s unsuccessful acting career.

He said: “I shouldn’t have cast him opposite me. People made comparisons.”

Suneil Anand never married and had no children. He is survived by his mother and sister.
