Film Star Mukul Dev passes away aged 54

Mukul Dev sadly passed away at the age of 54. He was known for his work in Hindi and Punjabi films, as well as in television.

On May 23, 2025, following a brief illness, Mukul Dev passed away at the age of 54 in New Delhi, India.

Mukul was a popular actor who made a mark on Bollywood as well as on television. 

He made his acting debut on a television show titled Mumkin (1996), where he played Vijay Pandey.

The same year, he worked in his first film, Dastak, as ACP Rohit Malhotra. The film also marked the debut of Sushmita Sen.

Mukul Dev also appeared in Qila (1998), which was the final film of the acting legend Dilip Kumar

The actor has also starred in films including Yamla Pagla Deewana (2011), Son of Sardaar (2012), and Jai Ho (2014).

Since the news of his death emerged, several celebrities took to social media to pay their condolences.

Jr NTR, who starred with Mukul in Adhurs (2010), wrote: “Saddened by the passing of Mukul Dev garu.

“Remembering our time in Adhurs and his commitment to the craft.

“My condolences to his family.”

Neil Nitin Mukesh said: “Really upset with the sad news of dear Mukul leaving us so soon.

“A powerhouse performer and a lovely person. My deepest condolences.

“God be with you all during these tough times.”

Mukul Dev is due to appear posthumously in the upcoming Son of Sardaar 2, which will be his final film appearance.

Paying tribute to him, his co-star from the film, Vindu Dara Singh, said:

“Rest in peace, my brother! The time spent with you will always be cherished.”

Son of Sardaar 2 will be your swansong where you will spread joy and happiness to the viewers and make them fall down laughing!”

Mukul’s older brother is Rahul Dev, who is currently dating the actress Mugdha Godse.

Detailing the circumstances of his death, Mugdha revealed: “He was in the ICU for a week with health complications, and he couldn’t survive.

“None of us in our wildest imagination could think of this coming.”

Mukul Dev is survived by his daughter Sia Dev, his siblings Rahul Dev and Rashmi Kaushal, and his nephew Sidhant Dev.
