Jehangir Khan, aged 28, from Uttar Pradesh, confessed to murdering and dismembering his fiancée’s body after she exposed his extra-marital affair.
Khan’s father, cousin and servant are currently on the run and a warrant for their arrest has been issued.
Khan became engaged to Zenab Khan, aged 21, in 2015. According to reports, it was a romance that was talked about in the area as he was seen as the ‘bad boy’, while she was the pretty woman.
The two were very much in love until Khan’s extra-marital affair began.
Khan began seeing another woman from Ramnagar, Uttarakhand despite his engagement to Zenab.
The two had been seeing each other for a while with Jehangir making regular trips to Ramnagar to visit her.
Zenab was aware of her fiancé’s illicit activities but she did not know that he visited the other woman often.
When she found out, she decided to expose Jehangir’s affair and turned up at the other woman’s house.
Zenab told the woman and her family that she was Jehangir’s fiancée and that he had been cheating on both of them.
The news was not taken lightly by the other girl’s family or Khan when he came to find out what his fiancée did.
Khan went to Zenab’s house, where he and a friend abducted her and took her to his farmhouse. He, along with the help of his father, cousin and servant then chopped her body up into pieces near the riverbank.
They later doused her body in acid and then buried it in a nearby forest in a bid to cover their tracks.
However, police discovered Jehangir had murdered his fiancée after her family filed an abduction case on November 14, 2018.
Police also identified call details from Zenab’s mobile phone to Khan.
Rampur Police Superintendent Shiv Hari Meena said: “Jehangir made a plan, and with the help of his friend Emroz, abducted Zenab and took her to their farmhouse.
“There, Jehangir’s history-sheeter father Tahir Khan, his cousin Danish Khan and their servant Nisar first strangled her to death and chopped her body into three pieces, poured acid on them and then buried them in a jungle close to their farmhouse.”
When questioned by police, Jehangir attempted to lie in a bid to thwart the investigation before confessing to the crime.
Superintendent Meena added: “During the police remand, Jehangir misguided the investigating officials by saying that he had buried Zenab’s body in the jungles of Kishangarh in Rajasthan’s Ajmer district.
“But he ran out of lies after some time and told us the truth.
“We have also recovered the weapons used in the murder, a shovel and a spade, some of the victim’s clothes and a pair of her shoes from the spot.”
While Jehangir has been arrested and confessed to the murder, his accomplices are on the run.
Four police teams have been formed to arrest the fugitives and a National Security Act has been imposed.
Police have announced a reward of Rs. 50,000 each to anyone who provides information on the three men.
