"Aryan is studying to be a filmmaker and a writer"
It looks like Aryan Khan will be making his Bollywood debut after several rumours. He is one of the most talked about child stars.
He is set to be launched by Karan Johar, who has launched the careers of Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan to name a few.
Aryan will make his debut in Johar’s historic drama Takht, however, it is not in an acting role. He will be assisting the filmmaker in the direction department.
Johar has said on a number of occasions that he will launch the careers of Shahrukh Khan’s children should they want to start a film career.
He feels that Takht will be the perfect opportunity for Aryan and will help him to be Bollywood ready.
Aryan studied filmmaking at the University of Southern California and SRK has been vocal about his kids possibly going into Bollywood.
He has said many times that they can foray into the film industry but clarified that neither Suhana nor Aryan has been forced to do acting.
When questioned on whether Aryan and Suhana will make their Bollywood debut soon, Shahrukh revealed that his son’s interest is towards filmmaking. He said:
“Aryan is studying to be a filmmaker and a writer, while Suhana wants to be an actor.
“But even if he wants to be a filmmaker, he needs to study for another five to six years and not just the literal form of studying, but probably be an assistant to Karan after his finishes his film-making course.”
When talking about Suhana’s future as an actor, Shahrukh explained:
“She finishes school in six months after which she will go to an educational institute for three-four years to train in acting.”
Aryan’s Bollywood debut looks set to be behind the camera as opposed to being in front of it.
Takht is set during the Mughal Era and will feature a star-studded cast which includes Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Anil Kapoor in leading roles among others.
Sumit Roy provides the screenplay and the film will be produced by Hiroo Yash Johar and Apoorva Mehta under the banner of Dharma Productions.
Takht is targeted for a 2020 release.
