"He's always had this notion of dragging Britain back"

Aman Bhogal has accused Prime Minister Keir Starmer of forming a “surrender squad” and undermining UK-US relations ahead of his EU meetings.

Speaking to GB News, Bhogal claimed Starmer was orchestrating a “great Brexit betrayal” by bringing back Olly Robbins, describing him as “egregious in trying not to let Brexit over the line.”

Aman Bhogal is the founding chairman of Global Britain UK and is a Brexit campaigner.

Bhogal pointed to the absence of an official ministerial presence at the US presidential inauguration in January 2025 as evidence of Starmer’s priorities.

He added: “That tells a story of where Keir Starmer is heading.

“He’s always had this notion of dragging Britain back into the socialist, failing bloc that is the EU.

“He’s putting Britain not just at the back of the queue when it comes to the US.”

Meanwhile, Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch has set out five “tests” for the PM as he prepares to meet European leaders in Belgium on February 3.

The challenge comes just after the fifth anniversary of Britain leaving the European Union.

Badenoch warned: “Now Keir Starmer and the Labour Government are trying to reopen the divisions of the past and edge us back into the EU.”

Badenoch’s key demands include no “backsliding” on free movement or compulsory transfer of asylum seekers, no new payments to the EU, and no reduction in fishing rights.

She also insisted NATO must have “primacy” in European security and rejected European courts having jurisdiction over UK law.

Sir Keir Starmer hosted German Chancellor Olaf Scholz at Chequers, praising “real progress” in UK-German relations.

The two leaders discussed Ukraine and the Middle East during their two-and-a-half-hour meeting.

Starmer said: “When I started as Prime Minister seven months ago now, I was determined to strengthen the relationship between our two countries.”

The Prime Minister will join European Council leaders at an informal retreat in Belgium ahead of a planned EU-UK summit later in 2025.

He has insisted Britain’s exit from the EU is “settled” while seeking to “reset” relations with the bloc.

The visit includes a working dinner focused on defence cooperation and a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

Badenoch has urged the Prime Minister to maintain UK freedoms over borders, taxes, and financial services regulation.

She stressed the importance of securing independent trade deals, particularly with the US, outside the EU customs union.

She also insisted environmental protections and business regulations must remain under British control.
