Bake Off’s Ruby Bhogal reveals Marriage to BBC Presenter

Former Great British Bake Off star Ruby Bhogal has revealed she secretly married BBC presenter James Stewart.

The couple tied the knot in June 2025 in a civil ceremony. Ruby has now shared pictures on Instagram.

Ruby came runner-up in the 2018 edition of Bake Off, with Rahul Mandal crowned the winner. Her announcement stunned followers, as she revealed she is now the wife of a well-known BBC star.

James Stewart is a science and sustainability presenter on BBC Morning Live. He also presents on CBBC, Blue Peter, and his own CBeebies show Get Set Galactic.

Photos from their special day showed Ruby in a white satin gown and James in a white two-piece suit.

The wedding venue featured chandeliers and regal paintings, while the newlyweds smiled as they walked down the aisle.

However, their honeymoon took an unexpected turn.

Ruby explained that their two-week trip quickly soured after she fell ill.

She revealed that a luxury boat ride left her unwell, forcing her to throw up over the edge.

Matters worsened when she contracted E. coli, coronavirus and got a stye.

Ruby told followers: “It’s been 3 months since I got married, got a stye, got e.coli, projectile vomited off the side of a boat and got covid all in the space of 2 weeks.

“You’ll be thrilled to know that I celebrated this milestone in true Rubes fashion by… spraining my ankle.

“If it ain’t broke, you can bet your a** on me trying to break it.”

James responded with humour, writing: “When they said ‘in sickness and in health’ I didn’t anticipate it being the next day.”

Their engagement in 2024 also took a turn when Ruby was struck by a bout of food poisoning.

In her post, she wrote: “Have deceptively been hiding my hand in the recent vids because it’s taken me about 3 weeks to tell most of my family whilst it took James a whole 3 minutes.

“I wish we had a romantic story to go alongside it but food poisoning managed to kick in right about 5 mins before he was about to propose and I was about to have a bridesmaid moment running across the street… so yay for love and yay for uncooked chicken in NYC.

“I love this life (time to start planning a big FAT Indian wedding but all I’m thinking about is the CAKE am I right?!)”

Ruby Bhogal became a fan favourite on Bake Off thanks to her creative bakes and technical skill. Since leaving the tent, she has gone on to launch her cookbook One Bake Two Ways.

Meanwhile, James has expanded his broadcasting career, joining the BBC Bitesize podcast series and fronting Saving Planet Earth for Audio Always. He previously won a Sony award for his work as a BBC radio producer on a programme about missing people.
