“I am a witness and The Kashmir Files is my testimony."
Another feat has been achieved by The Kashmir Files at the box office.
The unexpected hit has now become the first Hindi film to cross Rs. 250 Crore (£25 million) at the domestic box office since the Covid-19 pandemic began.
It took just over a month to reach the landmark.
The Kashmir Files is about the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus in the 1990s due to the Kashmir Insurgency and was made on an estimated budget of Rs. 15 Crore (£1.5 million).
Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted about the film crossing Rs. 250 Crore.

The Kashmir Files stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, and Darshan Kumaar.
Due to little promotion and limited theatrical release, the film was not expected to do well.
But the combination of the film being declared tax-free in multiple states ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party and word of mouth propelled its success.
It ended up breaking daily records in its first two weeks.
Fans had expressed their support for the film.
One person had said: “I watched The Kashmir Files at the weekend in Bengaluru. It’s heartbreaking and I couldn’t stop my tears. Every Indian much watch.”
Another commented:
“The Kashmir Files is not a movie, it’s a revolution… We need Justice. Thank you Vivek Agnihotri.”
Many had praised Anupam Kher’s performance as Pushkar Nath Pandit. The actor later said that his role is different to other acting roles because he is a mouthpiece for all the Kashmiri Hindus who were affected.
He said: “Today I am no longer just an actor.
“I am a witness and The Kashmir Files is my testimony.
“All those Kashmiri Hindus, who were either killed or lived like a dead body, were uprooted from the land of their forefathers. Still longing for justice.
“Now I am the tongue and face of all those Kashmiri Hindus.”
The domestic box office success of The Kashmir Files makes it stand above all other Indian releases post-pandemic.
The only other film to cross Rs. 200 Crore (£20 million) during this period is the Hindi-dubbed version of the Telugu film RRR.
The Kashmir Files‘ worldwide gross is approximately Rs. 320 Crore (£33 million), beating Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi as the highest-grossing Hindi film post-pandemic.
