"Don’t ever trust Aamir Khan."
At the recently held promotional event of SS Rajamouli’s RRR, Aamir Khan was asked about his take on the huge success of The Kashmir Files.
Aamir not only supported the film but also urged every Indian to watch it.
The superstar went on to congratulate the team of The Kashmir Files for its grand box office success.
While Aamir extended his support for The Kashmir Files, netizens called it a gimmick and went after his upcoming film Laal Singh Chaddha calling for the film’s boycott.
Soon Laal Singh Chaddha and Aamir Khan became a trending topic on Twitter.
One user wrote: “Aamir Khan is the same person who went on to meet Turkish 1st lady Emine Erdogan while shooting for Lal Singh Chadda.
“Turkish president went on to support Pakistan to revoke Art 370.
“Now Khan says what happened to #KashmiriPandit is of great sorrow. #LalSinghChaddha #AamirKhan”
Another tweeted: “Don’t ever trust Aamir Khan.
“In the past, he was making fake allegations in an interview against our PM Modi and now he has changed his thoughts according to the mood of the nation.”
Earlier, while talking about The Kashmir Files, Aamir had stated: “I will watch the film. It is a part of our history that is heart-breaking.
“What happened with the Kashmiri Pandits is very sad.
“Every Indian should watch the film made on this subject and should recall how it feels when a person goes through such trauma.”
He further added: “This film has touched the emotions of all people who believe in humanity and that’s what is wonderful.
“I will watch the film and I am so happy to see that the film is successful.
“I feel this is the time in India which was sad, people should look at it carefully and remember.”
The Kashmir Files is about the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus in the 1990s due to the Kashmir Insurgency.
It stars Anupam Kher and Mithun Chakraborty while Vivek Agnihotri directed the drama.
The Kashmir Files had a limited theatrical release in India but the combination of the film being declared tax-free in multiple states and word of mouth propelled its success.
The Kashmir Files is the second part of Vivek Agnihotri’s political franchise.
The Tashkant Files was released in 2019 while the next film is The Delhi Files, which is believed to be about the 1984 Sikh riots.
