"I’m going to remain strong and just take everything in my stride.”

Love Island contestant Priya Jaswal has admitted she has “made mistakes” and felt “humbled” after being dumped from the villa alongside partner Aidan Murphy.

The pair were eliminated from the ITV2 reality show after they were among three couples put at risk of leaving the villa.

Following her exit, Priya reflected on her time on the show and said she was grateful for the experience, despite the challenges she faced.

Priya said: “It feels surreal. I’ve had the best time ever.

“I’ve learned a lot, made mistakes, but also met the most amazing people ever. I feel very grateful for the experience.

“I’m really excited to catch up with my friends and family.”

She admitted her Love Island journey was “humbling”, adding:

“Extraordinarily humbling. I’m going to remain strong and just take everything in my stride.”

Priya and Aidan’s relationship was complicated throughout their time in the villa, with both Islanders struggling to find a lasting connection.

Priya explored several connections during her time on the show, getting to know Lorenzo Alessi, Samraj Toor, Jordon Wilson and Ethan Ellis.

Aidan, meanwhile, initially coupled up with Ellie Chadwick before moving on with Yasmin Hadlow.

He later formed connections with Namibia Olpherts, Tina Rad and Martha Rothwell before pursuing a romance with Priya.

The pair appeared to develop their friendship into something more and seemed to be progressing after meeting each other’s loved ones.

However, their relationship was tested when Aidan admitted his feelings were not as strong as they should have been.

He also revealed during an appearance on the Not Another podcast with Priya that he still had feelings for former flame Yasmin.

During Friday’s episode, Priya decided to end their romance after feeling she was wasting her time.

Her exit comes shortly after facing huge backlash for her comments about fellow Islander Elicia Bailey’s day job.

Priya was branded “vile, classist and tone deaf” by some ITV2 viewers after appearing to criticise Elicia’s National Rail role.

Dumped Elicia appeared on Aftersun and described Priya as the biggest game player in the villa.

During the ‘Graftie’ awards, the clip was shown and Priya later ranted:

“I don’t care what Elicia says. I don’t care. It’s cringy…

“Go back to the National Rail. Elicia, you work for the National Rail, why are you f***ing sitting in Aftersun?… But just go back there and save your breath.”

Viewers accused Priya of job-shaming and branded her comments “disgusting”, with some calling for her exit.

Following the backlash, Elicia described Priya’s comments and as a “personal attack” on her career.

Speaking on the Love Island Debrief programme, Elicia said she was surprised by the remarks and explained that her comments about Priya being the “biggest game player” were made after being asked a question.

She said:

“The comments that she made tonight, she said that I attacked her character, but I was asked a question on Aftersun.”

“I didn’t call them like begging them to get me on. Everybody goes on Aftersun.

“I was asked a question; it wasn’t an attack on anyone’s personality, anyone’s character but the comments she made was a personal attack, like where I work.

“That’s crazy, I’m the target. She also obviously hasn’t seen other interviews of other people saying the exact same thing; I’m the easy target tonight because I was there.

“I’m really surprised by the bitter and jealous comment because her reacting the way she did seemed quite bitter – I called out what everyone else was thinking.”
