After the end of the hugely successful drama Tere Bin, Geo TV is set to showcase its next drama, titled Mujhe Qabool Nahi.
The drama begins on July 12, 2023, taking over the primetime spot from the recently concluded Tere Bin.
Mujhe Qabool Nahi stars Sami Khan, Ahsan Khan and Madiha Imam in the lead roles.
The supporting cast includes names such as Saba Faisal, Behroze Sabzwari, Sidra Niazi and Fahima Awan.
It has been produced by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi, who also produced Tere Bin.
The drama has been written by Adeel Razzaq, who won praise for his short series Sar-e-Rah, which followed the struggles of a female taxi driver.
Aabis Raza has directed the project. He is well known for previous projects such as Aulaad, Jalan and Pyar Deewangi Hai.
He is also recognised for his input in the thriller horror drama Bandish.
Mujhe Qubool Nahi follows the story of Salman (Sami Khan) who is an obsessive husband to Mahira (Madiha Imam).
Mahira’s work colleague Atif (Ahsan Khan) soon falls in love with her and encourages her to recognise she is not in a healthy marriage.
This starts off as a rivalry between the male leads.
However, Mahira suffers the consequences while keeping her husband’s character in mind.
Although this story has been highlighted a handful of times before, the story is a relevant one in the reality of marital abuse and deserves to be brought to life in order to raise awareness.
Ahsan Khan’s hero role is a welcome change from his previous villainous roles in drama serials such as Fraud, Qissa Meherbano Ka, Udaari and Qayamat.
The three main leads are well recognised for their ability to choose projects that are hard-hitting and touch on subjects which are not often spoken so openly about.
Madiha Imam previously starred in the drama serial Chauraha which highlighted the subject of repercussions and dealing with the consequences of your actions.
Sami Khan was seen in Saraab as Asfandyar who is married to a woman who suffers from schizophrenia.
The show highlighted mental health and its effects on both the patient and their loved ones.
Meanwhile, Ahsan Khan was seen in the hit drama serial Udaari, in which he played the role of a child abuser.
