"Go do this ‘Mujra’ somewhere else."

Misbah Mumtaz, a prominent Pakistani model, recently revealed a shocking incident involving actress Nausheen Shah.

According to the model, Nausheen allegedly sent her an abusive message on Instagram.

She claimed the message was sent after Areeba Habib’s wedding celebration.

During the festivities, Misbah showcased her dancing prowess among her friends and footage appeared online.

She said: “There is this very good model named Areeba Habib. I danced at her Mehendi night. In a group.”

“After the videos were posted on Instagram, I got a direct message from her official account.”

Recalling the troubling message she received from Nausheen Shah, Misbah disclosed the derogatory language used against her.

She claimed that Nausheen branded her a ‘Kanjar’, a disparaging term often associated with professional dancers who charge for their performances.

Furthermore, Nausheen demeaned Misbah’s dance as a ‘Mujra,’ a term laden with negative connotations in the cultural context.

The model disclosed: “In the message it was written, ‘Kanjro, is this an Islamic Republic? Go do this ‘Mujra’ somewhere else.”

Expressing her bewilderment and dismay over the incident, Misbah Mumtaz clarified that she has no relationship with Nausheen Shah.

She also emphasised the lack of friendship or animosity between them.

Misbah revealed: “I have no relationship with this woman. No friendship, no enmity, nothing.”

The unexpected nature of the message led Misbah to speculate about the possibility of Nausheen’s account being hacked.

“I was completely shocked. I still don’t believe it. Her account must have been hacked.”

The model also addressed the criticism she faces for her choice of attire, particularly about wearing revealing clothes.

Reflecting on the feedback she received, Misbah Mumtaz expressed her confusion regarding the expectations placed on individuals regarding their clothing.

She offered a staunch defence of her sartorial preferences, highlighting her belief in adapting her attire to suit the cultural norms.

“People expect us to wear a burka even in America. I think you should dress according to the culture.”

She articulated her perspective on the matter, advocating for the freedom to express herself through her clothing choices.

Misbah added: “I don’t know why people judge. It is my personal choice.

“I think people just take out their frustrations on me. From fake accounts on top of it all.”
