"there are sufficient grounds to proceed against the accused"
A Mumbai court has summoned Salman Khan and his bodyguard Nawaz Shaikh for allegedly misbehaving with a journalist.
In 2019, local journalist Ashok Pandey filmed Salman riding a bicycle whilst being escorted by his bodyguards.
Mr Pandey claimed that he and his cameraman Syed Irrfan saw the actor and asked the star’s bodyguard for permission to film him. The bodyguard agreed.
But, Salman was not keen on being filmed and this led to an incident between the two.
Mr Pandey alleged that Salman and his entourage misbehaved with them before the actor took his mobile phone.
According to Mr Pandey, he claimed he was also threatened.
The journalist filed a complaint against Salman Khan and his bodyguard under Sections 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
In his complaint, Mr Pandey sought criminal action to be taken against the actor and his bodyguard.
In its order, the court said: “Keeping in view the self-speaking material on record, positive police report and other material on record, there are sufficient grounds to proceed against the accused persons.”
The court has issued a summons to Salman and his bodyguard.
The issuance of a summon marks the beginning of criminal proceedings before a metropolitan or judicial magistrate on the basis of a complaint filed by an individual.
The magistrate court issues the process if it finds any evidence in the allegations made in the complaint.
The matter has been posted for another hearing on April 5, 2022.
Salman must appear before the court in relation to the matter.
Rakhi Sawant has now reacted to the controversy. She said:
“See no media is ever bad, but when you become a big star, a few questions hurt you.
“Salman’s movies are super hit, he has millions of fans but somewhere, he has not achieved the happiness of life.
“I think he has got everything, but at times he is at loss too.
“If you press his sore point then he too can get p****d, he is human.”
“You don’t know but Salman is always stressed when his movies release, he wouldn’t want to fall in front of his fans.
“If someone poses a wrong question, then he can get angry, he is a real human being so he may have said something, but I don’t think anyone should file a case against him.”
On the work front, Salman is gearing up for Tiger 3.
