“I was also offered to speak lies but I didn’t even reply."
Bilal Qureshi claimed the Punjab government approached him for paid PR to promote their 100-day performance. However, he refused to lie.
The government of Punjab allegedly paid celebrities to post appreciation videos after completing their 100 days in office.
This action faced criticism from the public, who viewed it as celebrities “selling out” and lacking authenticity and empathy.
Amid these debates, Bilal has claimed that he had also been contacted regarding this.
His Instagram Story included a screenshot of a WhatsApp message, presumably showing evidence of the communication.
The message read: “Shoutout for Instagram. Scope of work: IT City, Film job revolution for the youth and economic growth of Pakistan inaugurated NSIT City by CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz. Quotation plz.”
Bilal Qureshi wrote: “I was also offered to speak lies but I didn’t even reply.
“Dear CM. Please do something that we don’t have to accept money to praise you but instead, we do it from the heart.”
Bilal then highlighted the various issues that the public has been facing during their 100 days of service.
He said: “Load shedding. Electricity bills. Petrol prices. Tax. Tax. Tax. This is your 100 days performance.”
The public praised Bilal Qureshi for not compromising his morals.
Many also expressed serious concerns for his safety due to him being so blunt.
One fan wrote: “During times like this, it is so hard to speak the truth in Pakistan. May Allah keep you safe.”
Another said: “Salute to him. Huge respect. Please guys pray for his safety because telling the truth has become unsafe in Pakistan.”
One commented: “This is what we expect from our role models. Sadly, not everyone has that much courage.”
Another stated: “Stay safe. You said a very big thing Maryam Nawaz takes immediate revenge.”
One remarked: “I hope he doesn’t get picked up by chorni (thief) Maryam.”
Ahmed Ali Butt also raised concerns over the government’s performance as well, saying:
“Tax on air travel. Tax on property selling and buying. Tax on basic local food items. Tax on electricity.
“Tax on sales and goods. Tax on paying TAX. Welcome to PAK-TAX-TAN.”
Criticism towards actors who promoted the Punjab government has been immense.
In one case, a fan called out Sanam Saeed, saying:
“Why did you turn off the comments in your previous post? If you knew you were saying the truth what are you scared of then?
Sanam replied: “I don’t think you guys know what it feels like to be on the receiving end of the stick.
“I know my intentions and my stance. But I have to save my nerves from the unfiltered wrath.”
