"This is how things begin."

Akshay Kumar revealed that a stranger asked his 13-year-old daughter for nudes whilst online playing video games.

The actor was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Cyber Awareness Month 2025 at the State Police Headquarters in Mumbai.

Sharing the disturbing incident, Akshay said:

“I want to tell you all a small incident which happened at my house a few months back.

“My daughter was playing a video game, and there are some video games that you can play with someone. You are playing with an unknown stranger.

“While you are playing, sometimes a message comes from there.

“Then a message came, Are you male or female? So she replied female. And then he sent a message. Can you send me nude pictures of yours? It was my daughter.

“She switched off the whole thing and she went and told my wife. This is how things begin.

“This is also a part of cybercrime… I would request the Chief Minister that in our Maharashtra state, every week in the seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth standards, there should be a period called cyber period where children should be explained about it.

“You all know that this crime is becoming bigger than street crime. It is very important to stop this crime.”

Akshay stated that the incident highlighted how children can be exposed to sexual predators while playing online games.

He stressed that schools should introduce a dedicated “cyber period” to teach students about online risks.

Also at the event were Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Director General of Police Rashmi Shukla, senior IPS officer Iqbal Singh Chahal, and Rani Mukerji.

In his address, Chief Minister Fadnavis stressed the need for timely reporting of online frauds, highlighting the concept of the ‘golden hour’ in cybercrime response.

He added: “Just as taking an accident victim to the hospital within the golden hour increases survival chances, reporting cyber frauds immediately allows police to block the fraudster and recover defrauded money.”

Calling it a major challenge to prevent cybercrime without proper awareness, Chief Minister Fadnavis urged citizens to stay vigilant against cybercriminals.

He stressed the importance of promptly reporting such crimes and asked the victims to dial 1930 or 1945 to seek help in such situations.
