"the kind of clothes she wears don’t go well with me."
Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar has once again grabbed headlines for stating that he will never work with Saba Qamar.
He previously sparked controversy by refusing to work with megastar Mahira Khan.
During a recent podcast, Khalil was asked if there was any actress he would never cast in his dramas.
In response, Khalil explicitly mentioned Saba Qamar, citing her choice of attire as “vulgar” and against his standards.
He revealed: “I will never cast Saba Qamar again in any of my dramas.
“I think I won’t be working with her ever because the kind of clothes she wears don’t go well with me.
“Although she’s a wonderful actress, I like her work, she has given a stellar performance in my drama serial Bunty I Love You but such kind of dressing is against our norms and culture.
“I know wearing such clothes is her personal choice and I should not have an issue with it but still I have a right to choose.”
Khalil also mentioned his desire to work repeatedly with actors Humayun Saeed and Adnan Siddiqui.
The reaction to his comments about Saba Qamar has been immense.
One user wrote: “She wears vulgar clothes so she is a bad person and if you use vulgar sentences you are respected? Ignorance on its peak.”
Another question: “Why do people keep asking his opinion about women knowing how toxic and misogynistic his views are?”
A netizen alleged: “His son is gay and his own daughter makes TikToks in swimsuits.”
Many questioned how the actresses he worked with were “pure” in his eyes.
One asked: “Only pure women work in your dramas?”
Another questioned: “How is the industry that you are working in following any moral values?”
One stated:
“Then according to this, you can not work with anyone. Every actress you have worked with wears vulgar clothes.”
In a recent instance, Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar was slammed for siding with Sahil Adeem when he labelled 95% of women “ignorant”.
It is important to note that Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar has faced significant criticism in the past as well.
The backlash was heavy, particularly for his inappropriate comments towards Marvi Sirmed during a TV program on the Aurat March.
This incident prompted backlash from the entertainment industry, including from Mahira Khan, who criticised his behaviour.
In response, Khalil vowed never to cast Mahira Khan in his dramas, stating that he would never forgive her.
Now that she is on his blacklist, it remains to be seen how Saba Qamar will respond to Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar’s remarks.
