Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End (PS4)
The trailer for Uncharted 4 at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2014 (E3 2014) left gamers totally excited and intrigued.
The trailer shows cocky protagonist Nathan Drake beaten and bruised, and lifting himself up from the ground, in what seems to be a jungle. In the background we can hear a conversation Drake and Sully had beforehand.
The game is believed to be set several years after his last adventure as Drake is drawn back into the world of plundering and shady characters.
He sets off once more on a journey that takes him all over the world to find supposedly mythical pirate treasure.
A recent listing on the website of US retail giant Wal-Mart might have accidentally leaked Uncharted 4’s official release date.
According to the post, Uncharted 4 is available now for pre-order, and the game will be launched on October 31st, 2015.
Halo 5: Guardians (Xbox One)
The release of the long-awaited Halo: The Master Chief Collection in November 2014, built up anticipation for the 2015 release of Halo 5: Guardians.
The multiplayer beta was available from December 29th 2014 to January 18th 2015. The focus for the beta was on the Arena gameplay segment of the Halo: Guardians‘ full multiplayer experience.
This featured gripping 4-on-4 showdowns in which players were matched according to their abilities for balanced matches. Players could also get their hands on the Rocket Launcher and Light Rifle as well.
The beta also included new maps and different game types, along with various armour sets for players to customise, which made each spartan unique to the player.
Sadly powerups failed to make the beta version in time for release, but has been promised for the official release later in the year.
Halo 5 is also expected to release alongside a Halo TV series, which is sure to excite fans.
Mortal Kombat X (Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, PC)
The iconic fighting game, Mortal Kombat X, makes a return, with a scheduled release date of April 14th, 2015.
Xbox One and PS4 users will be able to enjoy this game with stunning graphics, making each gaming session look fantastic.
There will also be new additions to the game. For the first time, the player will be able to choose from multiple variations of their fighter, thus giving each battle a unique feel. And this will undoubtedly influence the strategy that players use to win each fight.
Furthermore, players can take part in globally competitive online contests to see who is the best around the world.
In terms of the storyline, players will step into a new story which brings together familiar characters such as Sub-Zero and Scorpion, as well as characters making their debut.
All the characters come together to weave together a story mode that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC)
The hype surrounding The Witcher 3 has been steadily building since 2014.
However, unfortunately due to several bugs, the developers have decided to delay the release from February to May 19th, 2015.
The game will be set in an open world, approximately 30 times larger than what we have seen in the first two games.
The terrain will also vary hugely, with the player needing to choose different modes of transport ranging from sailboats to horseback, depending on where they want to go.
Each action the player takes will affect the world around them. Every option they select on their quest results in different outcomes. This will ensure that the game stays fresh, adding to its replay value.
Without giving too much away, the story focuses on the Empire attacking the Kingdoms of the North. All the while, the Wild Hunt, a merciless group of riders are coming after your character, Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter armoured with a sword and magic.
It is your duty to get your enemies before they get you!
Mario VS Donkey Kong (Wii U)
The iconic series makes it’s way over to the Wii U in glorious HD and makes full use of the touch screen Game Pad controller.
The player takes part in solving more than 80 puzzles in the game, with each one being progressively harder than the last.
One of the puzzles players can look forward to is helping toy versions of Nintendo characters navigate their way through various levels by using the stylus to draw bridges, and connecting different platforms together.
There is also a puzzle-creation mode that will keep Nintendo fans old and young entertained for hours.
The user created puzzles can also be shared with people in the Miiverse community, giving players an endless supply of new content to play.
With so many fantastic games to look forward to, 2015 is sure to be yet another incredible year for gaming.
