2013 was a good year for games, with the release of Call of Duty: Ghosts and Grant Theft Auto V which was the most anticipated game of 2012.
The game certainly earned the title, making so much money in the first 3 days of sales it broke industry sales records.
However, it is time to look ahead and see what is on the gaming horizon. Join DESIblitz as we pick out 5 games players can look forward to within 2014. Please note there will be spoilers!
inFAMOUS: Second Son

To go with Sony’s next-generation console the new instalment of inFAMOUS is scheduled for release on March 21, giving fans of the series another reason to buy the PS4.
The game sees Delsin Rowe, a graffiti artist on the gritty streets of Seattle. Realising his special Conduit powers he fights back against the oppressive DUP organisation that governs the city.
Two new gameplay features include Smoke which gives Delsin the ability to turn into smoke and dash through air vents, speeding up gameplay and Neon which allows the gamer to play in a more methodical way. This also gives players the chance to play their way.
Watch Dogs

Fans have waited patiently for the release of Watch Dogs since its reveal back in E3 2012. Fortunately their wait will be drawing to a close with the game expected to be released between April-June this year for Sony and Microsoft consoles.
The game is set in Chicago at a time where a super-computer known as the Central Operating System AKA CtOS has taken over the city. The game sees the player take control of Aiden Pearce, an expert hacker capable of hacking into devices such as mobile phones to infiltrate bank accounts or destroy these devices from the inside.
One excited gamer, Raj said: “I can’t wait for this game to finally come out; I have been waiting for 2 years!”
Destiny

From the company that brought us Call Of Duty comes Destiny, a first person shooter set in a futuristic society. The game is scheduled to be released on September 9 for both current and next-generation Sony and Microsoft consoles.
After previously setting up large colonies around the universe these societies had been wiped out in an event known as The Collapse.
The game follows the story of the Guardians Of The City, an elite group who now have the job of protecting the last remaining city on Earth. They protect the city using powers they have received from The Traveller, a large white orb that hovers above the city.
When trying to repopulate the former colonies it is discovered that an alien race is heading for Earth. It is now up to the player to take control of the Guardians and save what is left of mankind.
Mario Kart 8

Mario returns with his friends in a crazy, wacky and unpredictable racer that is sure to keep both fans and casual players entertained. Mario Kart 8 welcomes back its 12 character roster and thrilling races in full HD.
There are also new additions to the game such as Mario Kart TV, allowing users to upload replays of their races to the Miiverse. So if a player has made a heroic come back from last to first with just a string of bananas and green koopa shells, the Nintendo community can know about it.
Another stand-out addition to the game is the anti-gravity sections in both the new and retro race tracks. These allow players to drive on walls, ceilings and even upside down adding to a racing experience only possible in a Mario Kart game.
The game is scheduled for release on May 30 for the Wii U. Indi, a Mario Kart enthusiast said:
“It’ll be great sharing my best moments on the track with other players and driving upside down!”
Dark Souls II

With a scheduled release of March 21 for PS3 and Xbox 360, Dark Souls II returns with more cursed characters trolling the world to find the cure for their sickness. Despite being a sequel, the beginning of the game will be accessible for newcomers, giving players of varying experiences the chance to enjoy the game.
This time around Dark Souls II offers a larger and more expansive world, approximately double the size of the previous game. The AI has also undergone improvements and will now be able to react to more actions undertaken by the player.
