"when they don’t, they take me off that pedestal."
Ankita Lokhande has opened up about being trolled shortly after the death of Sushant Singh Rajput.
The pair had been in a relationship for six years before splitting up in 2016.
Sushant was found dead at his Mumbai apartment on June 14, 2020.
The case was investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Although it was called a suicide, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) looked into money laundering and drugs.
Several Bollywood stars were questioned by police in relation to Sushant’s death and the other angles.
Ankita Lokhande has now spoken about the negativity directed at her after Sushant’s death.
She said: “I can’t do anything. There is nothing in my hand.
“When people feel like it, they make me into a Goddess, when they don’t, they take me off that pedestal.
“I don’t think I existed in Sushant’s life since the past four years.
“No point directing anger at me. I think everyone has been targeted throughout this process.
“And it is okay. I know what I stood for, I know what I feel. I know what I’ve gone through, so it is okay.”
Ankita had previously spoken about the thoughts she felt after she broke up with Sushant.
She explained: “For me, it was very difficult but my family stood by me.
“My life was finished. I was just finished.
“I did not know what to do after that. I am not blaming anyone. He chose his way.
“You are plagued with negative thoughts. Maybe I wanted to finish myself.”
“You do think of such things at that time but then I came out of it.”
In an Instagram live session in March 2021, Ankita Lokhande revealed that people who did not know about her relationship with Sushant blamed her for their breakup.
She said that the comments had also affected her parents.
She had said: Today, people are accusing me of having dumped Sushant).
“How do you know that? Nobody knows about my thing.”
Speaking of her late former boyfriend, Lokhande added:
“Sushant… I am not blaming anyone here… I think he made his choice very clear.
“He wanted to go on with his career. He chose his career and he moved on.
“But for two-and-a-half years, I was dealing with so many things.”
