Media outlets have revealed the salaries of 2017’s I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here line-up. It appears Amir Khan has become the show’s highest-paid contestant ever.

According to The Sun, ITV has paid him just over £400,000 for his appearance. Dwarfing the amounts given to fellow campmates, which range between £250,000 – £25,000.

TV sources told the publication: “Amir was a great get, but he came at a hefty cost. He’s going to be the best paid celeb they’ve ever had. [sic]

“There have been rumours of huge sums being paid to the celebrities but they’re often highly exaggerated. Katie Price got somewhere close, but Amir’s is slightly higher again.”

During her second appearance on the show in 2009, reports claimed Katie received a huge sum of £400,000 from ITV. From the sources’ comments, this suggests then Amir’s salary is just over that mark, making him the highest-paid contestant ever.

They also add that the huge sum given to Amir lies in his career as a boxer and former world champion. They said:

“He’s a huge name in sport and current after his recent marriage problems.

“He has plenty to gain in improving his public image — but he also wasn’t doing it for peanuts. ITV have dug deep.”

Previously, Amir and his wife Faryal Makhdoom repeatedly hit headlines for their public split. Yet, they reunited with the British Asian boxer later admitting to feeling “embarrassed” about the online spat.

With his reported salary, this pales the amount his co-stars have received. Some of them allegedly received lower sums of £25,000, such as Rebekah Vardy and Jack Maynard, who ITV axed from the programme on 22nd November.

The new series recently started on 19th November, yet Amir has made a big impact on the show. Both he and Georgina Toffolo were the first contestants of the series to do a Bushtucker Trial. One that left him KO’ed after he was unable to confront his fear of snakes.

However, he turned things around on the next day, winning his second trial.

Following from the group’s split into two teams, the boxer will face his third trial, entitled ‘The Fright House’, for Croc Creek. Will he be able to conquer his fears and beat his opponent from Snake Rock?
