Amir Khan will enter the jungle again for a new all-stars edition of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

The retired boxer appeared on the show in 2017 where he was known for his fear of creepy crawlies and ‘Strawberry Gate’, which saw him and Iain Lee win strawberries as part of the Dingo Dollar Challenge.

But instead of sharing the treats with their fellow campmates, the pair ate them by themselves.

Amir will now be back in the jungle but this time in South Africa for a new version of the show.

The spin-off will feature 15 legends from throughout the show’s history, which will be a record number of campmates.

The contestants will have another chance to become king or queen of the jungle or even retain their crowns.

Amir finished seventh on the show and faced his fear of snakes, with one particular snake causing nightmares for the former boxer.

He was a fan favourite on the show and at the time, he was recovering from a hand injury so he decided to go on the show.

Since then, Amir fought his rival Kell Brook earlier in 2022 in what would be his last bout.

Now happily retired, Amir is looking for new challenges and can safely re-enter the jungle.

He previously hinted at his participation on I’m A Celebrity all-stars, saying:

“I’ve been asked to do a very, very big show. I can’t give the name to you.

“But I’ll give you a clue; I’ve been on it before!

“I’m not saying nothing. I’ve been asked to go there.

“Look, I think it’ll be brilliant. I think people get to see another side of me and it would be nice to do something like that. Now that I’ve got time I can do it.

“Before I couldn’t do it. The only reason I did it last time was because I had the hand injury.

“I said I’m out of boxing anyway because I can’t train with my hand so I’ll go in the jungle.

“Otherwise, I would probably not have done that.”

Set to air in 2023, previous contestants such as Gillian McKeith, Joe Swash and Phil Tufnell return for bushtucker trials.

Other celebrities set to return include Myleene Klass, Carol Vorderman, Shaun Ryder and Georgia Toffolo.

A show spokesperson said: “We’ll announce our lineup and plans for I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! South Africa nearer its transmission in 2023.”

Ant and Dec will host the spin-off show while the regular series will back on screens later in 2022, returning to Australia for the first time since 2019.
