"I stood there and kept on doing work"

During a promotional event for the upcoming Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Akshay Kumar said that he had no plans to give up following consecutive flops.

Several of the star’s previous releases have unfortunately not done well at the box office.

Such films included Mission Raniganj (2023), Raksha Bandhan (2022) and Samraat Prithviraj (2022).

Addressing his recent poor box office returns as well as his resolve to persevere, Akshay said:

“We keep on trying for every type of film. I don’t stick to one kind of genre.

“I keep on jumping from one genre to another, whether there is success or no success, that’s how I have always worked.

“I’ll keep on doing it – something that is social, something that is good, something in comedy, in action.

“I will always keep on doing different kinds of [work]. I won’t be sticking to one kind of thing just because I am told comedy and action is working these days.

“It doesn’t mean I should only do action. I myself start getting bored if I do one kind of thing.

“Whether it was Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, whether it is Airlift or Rustom, or many other films that I have done; sometimes success is there, sometimes it’s not.

“It is not that I have not seen [this phase before]. There was a time when I had 16 consecutive flops in my career.

“But I stood there and kept on doing work and I’ll still do that.

“This is one film this year for which we all have done lots of hard work and now we are going to see the results.

“We hope this is going to bring good luck to all of us.”

Akshay Kumar began his career in 1991 and is one of the most popular and influential Bollywood actors.

Although he is frequently praised for his commendable punctuality and work ethic, the actor is also criticised for supposedly taking on too many projects.

During an appearance on Koffee With Karan in 2023, Karan Johar asked Sunny Deol what he disliked about Akshay.

The Gadar actor replied:

“What I don’t like about [Akshay] is that he does too many films.”

Meanwhile, along with Akshay, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan also features Tiger Shroff, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Sonakshi Sinha and Alaya F in lead roles.

The film is scheduled to be released on April 10, 2024.

Akshay Kumar has several more films lined up including Singham Again, Welcome to the Jungle and Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat
