"That film made you cry, this one will entertain you."
Aamir Khan has announced his next film and revealed that it will be titled Sitare Zameen Par.
Although not a sequel to his 2007 film Taare Zameen Par, Aamir said the two films will share similar themes.
He explained: “I have not spoken about it publicly and I won’t be able to say much now also.
“But I can tell the title. The title of the film is Sitare Zameen Par.
“You must have remembered my film Taare Zameen Par and the name of this film is Sitare Zameen Par because we are moving 10 steps ahead with the same theme.
“Taare Zameen Par was an emotional film, this film will make you laugh. That film made you cry, this one will entertain you.
“But the theme is the same that’s why we kept this name very thoughtfully.
“We all have flaws, we all have weaknesses, but we all also have something special, so we are taking forward this theme but this time the character of the special child Ishaan in that film, my character helps that character in Taare Zameen Par.
“In Sitaare Zameen Par, those nine boys who have their own issues, they help me. It’s the opposite.”
Taare Zameen Par followed a nine-year-old artistically gifted boy named Ishaan (Darsheel Safary).
Aamir played his art teacher and after discovering that Ishaan is dyslexic, he helps him to overcome his reading disorder.
Aamir Khan also revealed that he will be producing Sitare Zameen Par as well as three other films, one of which includes Lahore, 1947, which will star Sunny Deol.
He said:
“I’m doing three films as a producer. There is Laapata Ladies, directed by Kiran (Rao). It comes out on January 5.”
“Another one with my son Junaid (Khan), and Lahore, 1947 with Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol. I’m looking forward to them.”
Sitare Zameen Par will mark Aamir Khan’s return to acting after his 2022 film Laal Singh Chaddha.
It was an official remake of the Hollywood classic Forrest Gump.
Laal Singh Chaddha also starred Kareena Kapoor, Naga Chaitanya and Mona Singh.
Despite the massive production scale, the film failed at the box office.
It was praised for its adaptation to the new setting, faithfulness to the source material, depth, soundtrack, background score and emotion, but received criticism for Aamir’s performance.
Aamir ended up announcing he would be taking an acting break to focus on his family.
