The trailer of Aamir Khan’s upcoming film, Sitaare Zameen Par, has been released, featuring the superstar as the sports coach, Gulshan.

It begins with a live basketball match, which soon dissolves into a largely empty sports hall.

The only people in the sports hall are Gulshan and a few basketball players, who are all disabled in some way.

A voiceover tells Gulshan: “You are an excellent coach, but as a person, you’re a swine.”

The trailer moves on to show Gulshan creating a series of problematic incidents, including punching his senior and crashing into a police car.

In a courtroom, the judge tells Gulshan: “The court wishes to utilise your talent appropriately.

“Therefore, for the next three months, you are ordered to train a basketball team of people who are intellectually disabled.”

An exasperated Gulshan replies: “Do you expect me to train mad people for three months?”

The furious judge imposes fines upon Gulshan for using the word, ‘mad.’

Gulshan is then told: “There’s going to be a National Championship for the specially abled.

“Now that you’re our coach, we have entered the tournament.”

The trailer proceeds to show Gulshan struggling to work with his team of players.

He protests: “How do I form a team? I need normal people for that!”

The voiceover continues: “Everyone sticks to their own ‘normal’, Coach.

“We each have our own ‘normal’. You have yours, and they have theirs.”

A character explains to Gulshan: “At some point, we have to shoulder our responsibilities.”

Gulshan tells his team before a match: “The opposing team looks pathetic. Let’s take their pants off!”

One of his players responds: “No. We’re here to win, not to humiliate anyone.”

The trailer of Sitaare Zameen Par attracted positive comments from fans.

One viewer said: “It’s time for Aamir Khan’s comeback!”

A second fan added: “Aamir Khan once again proves why he’s in a league of his own.

“The trailer is a perfect blend of emotion, humour, and depth. Looking forward to another thought-provoking masterpiece.

Sitaare Zameen Par also stars Genelia D’Souza Deshmukh and is directed by RS Prasanna.

It is an adaptation of the Hollywood film Champions (2023), which in turn was a remake of the Spanish film Campeones (2018).

The film is said to be a thematic sequel to Aamir’s 2007 blockbuster Taare Zameen Par.

Reflecting on this, Aamir previously stated: “It is not the same story and the characters are also not the same.

“We are moving ten steps ahead with the same theme.”

Taare Zameen Par was an emotional film. This film will make you laugh.

“[Taare Zameen Par] made you cry, this one will entertain you.

“The theme is the same. That’s why we kept this name very thoughtfully.

“We all have flaws, we all have weaknesses, but we all also have something special, so we are taking forward this theme.”

Sitaare Zameen Par is scheduled to be released on June 20, 2025.
