"Let’s hope it comes by Christmas."
Aamir Khan has revealed the release date of his next film Sitaare Zameen Par.
The star excited fans when he announced that he had finally signed a new acting project following his hiatus.
Confirming the new film’s release date, Aamir said:
“I started shooting for my next film last week. We are trying to release it on Christmas this year.
“Let’s hope it comes by Christmas.”
Sitaare Zameen Par drew considerable curiosity from fans, as its title is similar to the classic Taare Zameen Par (2007).
Centred around a dyslexic child, Taare Zameen Par not only starred Aamir but was also directed by him.
In a previous interview, Aamir explained that while Sitaare Zameen Par will continue the theme of his 2007 directorial, the story is different.
He said: “It is the next level of Taare Zameen Par. It is like Part Two.
“It is not the same story and the characters are also not the same.
“The theme is the same but the difference is, unlike Taare Zameen Par, which left you with tears, Sitaare Zameen Par will leave in laughter.
“Prasanna is directing it and it is an entertaining film.
“We are looking at the same topic but with a different perspective.”
The last film which featured Aamir Khan in a lead role was Laal Singh Chaddha (2022), which was a box office flop.
After the release of the film, the PK star announced that he would take a break from acting in order to spend more time with his family.
Reflecting on this decision, Aamir expressed:
“I had taken a short break because I wanted to spend time with my family.
“I was busy with my work for so many years.
“I spent a lot of time with my family and tried to build a strong bond with them.
“I am ready to work again now.”
Aamir began shooting for Sitaare Zameen Par on February 1, 2024. The film is directed by RS Prasanna.
The film will reportedly feature Genelia D’Souza Deshmukh.
Although Laal Singh Chaddha contained Aamir’s latest lead role, he was last seen in a cameo appearance in Salaam Venky (2022).
Apart from Sitaare Zameen Par, Aamir is currently producing films including Laapata Ladies and Lahore, 1947.
Lahore, 1947 marks Aamir Khan’s first collaboration with Sunny Deol and will also star Preity Zinta as the female lead.
