Amid a lot of rumours and speculation, it has been officially confirmed that Preity Zinta will star in Lahore, 1947.
The actress and entrepreneur will make her Bollywood comeback opposite Sunny Deol in this film, which is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi.
Aamir Khan will serve as producer of the film.
Rajkumar Santoshi expressed his delight at Preity’s casting and praised her as a performer.
The veteran filmmaker said: “After a long time, Preity Zinta is again playing a very important role on the silver screen with Lahore, 1947.
“She is indeed an extremely talented, finest, and most natural actress in our industry.
“Whichever character she plays she totally invests herself in it and makes the audience feel that she is made for that character.
“Interestingly, the audience will see her again with Sunny Deol.
“This on-screen pair has always been immensely loved by the audience.
“Above all, this film’s script demands a pair that is as accurate as Sunny and Preity.”
Preity Zinta recently posted a tweet on X which depicted her at a temple seeking blessings before embarking on something new.
The Veer-Zaara actress was likely alluding to Lahore, 1947.
She wrote: “Best way to start something new is by taking Ganpati Bappa’s blessings.
“Every time I come here, I feel a deep sense of calm and happiness.
“This time it was even more special because I had Mom with me.
“For all of you who want to visit and have not had the opportunity here is what it looks like from inside.
“I hope you can come here soon because you will feel absolutely amazing afterwards.
“A heart thank you to everyone at the Siddhivinayak Temple for such amazing darshan and for giving me these photos.”

Rajkumar Santoshi also revealed recently that AR Rahman and Javed Akhtar have joined Lahore, 1947 as music composer and lyricist respectively.
He commented: “This is truly the best dream team and rare to come together.
“With all the positivity and full of energy, we will commence the shoot for the film very soon.”
It is exciting news that under such an acclaimed filmmaker like Rajkumar, Preity, Sunny and Aamir will all be collaborating.
Sunny Deol and Preity have worked together in films such as Farz (2001) and The Hero: Love Story of a Spy (2003).
Meanwhile, Aamir and Preity won hearts with their electrifying onscreen chemistry in Dil Chahta Hai (2001).
Preity Zinta’s last Bollywood film was Bhaiaji Superhit (2018), in which she also starred opposite Sunny Deol.
