Navin Chowdhry, famous for playing Nish Panesar in EastEnders, spoke about the future of his villainous character Nish Panesar.
The star addressed his genuine excitement for his character. He said:
“We’ve been speaking with the execs and the writers about the journey over the next six months.
“Genuinely we are on the same page and it sounds really exciting.
“We all have our chats about what’s going on and when I had my chat about what’s going to be happening with Nish, it’s really what I wanted to hear.
“It’s exciting the journey ahead, but we still have to film it, so let’s see what happens.”
Since joining the show in 2022, Navin Chowdhry has been involved in some high-profile storylines.
These include abusing his wife Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) and becoming a potential victim in the popular 2023 Christmas murder storyline.
The plot, which had viewers gripped, came to fruition on Christmas Day when six women – including Suki – stood over Nish’s seemingly lifeless body in the Queen Vic pub.
This was after Denise Fox (Diane Parish) hit Nish on the head with a bottle, in an attempt to stop him from attacking Suki.
However, Nish was later confirmed to have survived and was led to believe Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) was the one who attacked him.
He has since been on a mission to discover what really happened on the festive occasion.
Viewers have also recently seen him engage in a devious romance with Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace).
Addressing the surprising relationship, Navin continued:
“It was a surprise, but again it’s something that will goes places.
“I think there’s not many opponents that he’s faced that will give him a run for his money.
“If ever there is somebody in addition to Suki… it could be Kat.”
Navin concluded by urging viewers to continue watching EastEnders. He explained:
“You have to watch the next two weeks.
“Towards the end of February, there is a very significant week of episodes which focuses a lot on Suki and Kat and the Panesars and what it might mean sort of for the future.
“So there is something quite big coming up.”
Nish Panesar is undoubtedly a cruel villain, but that is a testament to Navin’s fantastic talent.
Meanwhile, the actor recently celebrated his wife’s courage in battling breast cancer.
Navin Chowdhry said: “To my wife and to all of you cancer warriors out there, I am just totally in awe of the strength that you have within yourselves.
“You are an inspiration and you all are just extraordinary.”
