EastEnders Star Navin Chowdhry speaks about Nish's Future - f

"Expect the exit to be very impactful."

Navin Chowdhry will reportedly be departing from BBC’s EastEnders in the upcoming months.

The actor has played the villainous Nish Panesar for over two years.

Although EastEnders has not officially confirmed Navin’s exit from the show, a source said:

“It’s not known if Nish will be killed off, even though his health is suffering, but expect the exit to be very impactful and dramatic.

“Navin has made quite the impact on the show in the two years he has been a part of it, especially as a key part of the huge Christmas storyline with The Six.

“He’ll be missed by cast, crew and viewers alike.”

Since being released from prison in September 2022, Nish made his mark on Albert Square as the formidable patriarch of the Panesar clan.

However, it soon transpired that Nish was a narcissist, obsessed with power and control.

This was shown in the way he always manipulated and abused his ex-wife Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) and was not above harming his own family if they crossed him in any way.

It also emerged that Nish had fathered Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara), who thought that Ranveer Gulati (Anil Goutam) was his father.

When Nish discovered that his wife was having an affair with Eve Unwin (Heather Peace), his rage knew no bounds.

During The Six storyline of EastEnders, Nish found himself surrounded by six women including Suki.

The incident occurred at Christmas 2023 when Nish attacked Suki and attempted to take her back with him.

The women tried to rescue Suki. Finally, Denise Fox (Diane Parish) smashed a bottle over Nish’s head.

However, surprisingly, Nish was not the dead man in the storyline.

This turned out to be Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) after Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) stabbed him to stop Keanu from strangling Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean).

In March 2024, Nish was made homeless after his family had enough of his schemes.

Months later, Nish returned to EastEnders with a terminal illness.

Since then, Suki and Vinny Panesar (Shiv Jalota) have been plotting to get their hands on his fortune when he dies.

Nish discovered this in recent episodes and is undoubtedly planning brutal revenge.

Future instalments of the show will see Eve and Suki make clear to Nish that he is not invited to Vinny’s party.

Nish also finds out that undercover police are looking into his chicken shops through which he has been laundering money.

The businessman comes up with a cunning plan to rectify the situation. However, an emotional plea from Vinny will make him reconsider it.

At the party, Nish turns up with a heartfelt gift for Vinny and he also shocks Suki by complimenting her parenting.

What is Nish Panesar planning and how will these events lead to his exit?

In February 2024, Navin Chowdhry admitted that he was scared to pick his children up from school due to people recognising him as Nish.

He said: “There have been moments when we’ve had scenes and I’ll speak to the producer and I’ll say, ‘I’m going to have to go on the school run and you are making me beat up every woman on Albert Square’.

“I’ve been scared.”

The actor added that he received negative comments from people who did not differentiate between him and his character.

He continued: “There has been the odd comment. There are a few unfriendly messages I’ve been on the receiving end of.

“But most people get it. I am aware that everyone wanted him to die at Christmas. I apologise to the audience that I’m still around.”

Nish’s exit from the show promises to be memorable and dramatic.

EastEnders continues on Monday, September 16, 2024.
