"It’s probably the most visceral that we’ve seen him."

The EastEnders actor Navin Chowdhry shared insights into his character, Nish Panesar.

Navin spoke about his upcoming scenes during a photo shoot for the 2024 Inside Soap Awards.

He said: “[Nish] is a man who cannot tolerate any kind of betrayal or deceit or disloyalty that comes his way.

“Despite what he does to others, it’s totally unacceptable for him to be on the receiving end of anything like that.

“So you can only imagine what his reaction is going to be!

“All I can say is, it’s probably the most visceral that we’ve seen him.”

Recent episodes of EastEnders showed Nish making a discovery about his ex-wife Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) and son Vinny Panesar (Shiv Jalota).

He overheard them discuss their plan to ensure that they would get his inheritance when he died.

In May 2024, Nish revealed to his family that he was dying of a terminal illness.

Navin went on to state that he was enjoying the storyline.

He continued: “When I first heard that was where the story was going, I was really excited.

“I thought it was just another way to convey his villainy.

“He has different tactics that he needs to employ now to try and achieve what he wants.

“He has spent most of his time since he’s been back causing hell for everyone else, and suddenly he’s been dealt the harshest card.

“So for him to cope with that and then react in the way that he needs to try and still be on top and still win is just a really interesting dynamic that I don’t think anyone saw coming.”

Navin has been nominated for Best Villain at the Inside Soap Awards.

Divulging his thoughts about his nomination, he said: “I feel very flattered, very honoured actually.

“It represents the work of not just me but everybody on the show, so when we get that recognition, it’s an indication that the work is being done and is being received well.

“I feel really good about it.”

Sophie Khan Levy, who plays Priya Nandra-Hart in EastEnders, has also been nominated for ‘Best Newcomer’.

Speaking about her nomination, Sophie explained: “I just feel very honoured because it is such an iconic show.

“I just can’t believe I’m a part of it and that I’m nominated. I just feel really lucky.”

In recent weeks, Priya has been struggling with the fact that her son Davinder ‘Nugget’ Gulati (Juhaim Rasul Choudhury) needs dialysis.

She has also been betrayed by Nish after he lied that they slept together.

Sophie continued: “I think it’s safe to say we’ve left her pretty high and dry.

“But there’s one thing that Priya is all about and that is her kids.”

“So I think we can say that we’re going to see a lot more of her motherly instincts coming out and really showing her as the mother she is.

“Even though the Panesars are complete chaos and high drama, there is a lot of love and family values that mean everything to everyone in that family.

“So, I think there is some scope for coming together, falling apart, and coming together again.

“Where there is love, there is hate and I think the Panesars do that quite well.”
