"The journey we have embarked on promises to be most enriching."
Aamir Khan is set to produce a film titled Lahore, 1947. The film will star Sunny Deol.
For a while, it was reported that Aamir Khan, Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol would be joining forces for a film.
It was rumoured that Sunny would star in the project, while Aamir would serve as producer.
Aamir officially confirmed the news. Rajkumar will direct the film and Sunny will feature as the lead.
The Dangal (2016) star wrote a statement via the Aamir Khan Productions account on X.
Aamir revealed:
“I, and the entire team at AKP, are most excited and happy to announce our next, starring Sunny Deol, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, titled Lahore, 1947.
“We look forward to collaborating with the immensely talented Sunny, and one of my favourite directors Raj Santoshi.

“We seek your blessings.”

Aamir and Rajkumar previously collaborated on the cult comedy Andaz Apna Apna (1994).
Meanwhile, Sunny has starred in several classics under the baton of Rajkumar. These include Ghayal (1990) and Damini (1993).
Sunny won the Filmfare ‘Best Actor’ award for Ghayal in 1991.
Aamir had previously announced a break from acting to spend more time with family:
When asked when he was going to make his Bollywood return, he said:
“When I am emotionally ready to do a film, I will definitely do it.”
While Aamir Khan will not star in Lahore, 1947, it is indeed exciting news that he will be working with Sunny for the first time.
The pair were cast together in Yash Chopra’s Darr (1993), but creative differences led to the filmmaker removing Aamir from the film.
The duo have also clashed at the box office on multiple occasions. 1990 saw Sunny lock horns with Aamir when Ghayal clashed with Dil.
In 1996, Aamir’s blockbuster Raja Hindustani came together with Sunny’s action film Ghatak: Lethal.
Sunny’s Gadar: Ek Prem Katha faced Aamir’s Lagaan on June 15, 2001.
Fortunately, their clashes resulted in positive outcomes for their respective films.
Sunny is currently basking in the success of Gadar 2. The film released on August 11, 2023.
It earned over Rs. 690 Crore (£68 million) and is the third highest grossing Indian film of 2023, as well as the seventh highest-grossing Hindi film of all time.
Meanwhile, Aamir Khan was last seen in Laal Singh Chaddha (2022). The film was a box office bomb in India, though it performed reasonably well overseas.
