4-year-old Birthday Boy receives reply from the Queen

"Dear HRH Queen Elizabeth, I think you are the best Queen in the world."

A 4-year-old birthday boy received a very special gift as Queen Elizabeth II responded to an invitation he sent her.

Shaan Dulay sent the UK Queen a letter after asking his mother to arrange a meeting with her at Buckingham Palace.

He wanted the Queen to set up a trip to visit him at his West Midlands home.

However, his mother initially said to the birthday boy that Queen Elizabeth II may have no time at the palace. Therefore, Shaan replied: “Maybe she can come here instead.”

The 4-year-old decided to write a letter to the monarch, inviting her to his fifth birthday party.

It read: “Dear HRH Queen Elizabeth, I think you are the best Queen in the world. I really like your crown and the red cloak you wear; it’s like a superhero.”

Placing his request for her to attend his party within the letter, he sent it off on 13th March.

However, after hearing nothing for over a month, the birthday boy began to lose hope. On 3rd May, he received a letter with the Royal Seal. Shaan became overjoyed when he realised the Queen had actually replied to him!

While she could not make his birthday party, the reply read: “The Queen hopes you have a very happy birthday on June 25.” Since the letter’s arrival, Shaan revealed how delighted he felt to know the monarch had read his letter. He also expressed his wish to still meet her one day.

The birthday boy’s mother also explained why he had a fascination with Queen Elizabeth II in the first place. She revealed:

“He had been learning about history at school and that the Queen was the longest reigning monarch – things like how she was when she first started. He came straight home and started reeling off all the information to us.”

And she also revealed some exciting news to Shaan – he will go to Buckingham Palace in the summer:

“We will be taking him to see the palace in the summer and he can’t wait. I have had to calm him down and tell him there is a little while to wait yet.”

With receiving such a special letter from the Queen, DESIblitz hopes one day Shaan’s dream will become true.
