He used the video to blackmail her
A police case has been registered after a woman was beaten and stripped by her ex-lover. The incident happened in Amritsar, Punjab.
The woman had been in a relationship with the accused, however, he was controlling towards her.
He made an objectionable video of the two together and would pressure her to have sex with him. When the relationship ended and she tried to have the video deleted, he beat her and tore her clothes.
An investigation is currently underway.
Prior to her marriage, the unnamed victim was in a relationship with a young man.
They had been in a relationship for four years. During that time, he made a sex video of them. He used the video to blackmail her, pressuring her to have sex with him.
Despite the relationship ending and the man getting married, he did not stop pursuing his ex-lover.
The woman later decided to try and get the explicit video deleted. On July 6, 2020, the woman went with her mother to her ex-boyfriend’s house in an attempt to resolve the situation.
When the woman entered the house, she saw that her ex-lover had already called two of his friends there.
When she told him to delete the video, he beat up her mother and locked her in one of the rooms before trying to force himself onto his ex-lover.
Meanwhile, his friends filmed the incident.
During the struggle, the man tore the woman’s clothes. She managed to escape and ran into the street for help. She was covered in bruises and had hardly any clothes on.
Following the incident, the accused ran out of his home and fled.
Locals helped the woman and her mother and took them to the hospital. At the same time, the police were informed.
According to the victim, the police provided little help. She claimed that instead of taking action, officers from Sadar Police Station are pressing for a settlement instead.
She has written to DGP Dinkar Gupta and the police commissioner, seeking justice.
Her lawyer, Raj Barinder, said that if justice is not served, they will approach the court.
On the other hand, ASI Gurjit Singh denied the allegations made by the victim. He said that officers had tried to call the victim for two days, however, there was no response.
ACP Sarabjit Singh Bajwa said that the case is a serious matter and that the investigation is ongoing.
