They reportedly held staff at gunpoint
A group of waiters were arrested for robbing a wedding hall in Pakistan.
The incident took place in Lahore’s upscale DHA neighbourhood.
The suspects, identified as Chand, Babar, and Shan, were employed at the venue.
The trio allegedly turned against their workplace after a financial dispute with the owner.
According to Kahna Police, the men staged the robbery a few days ago, using inside knowledge of the premises to pull off the crime.
They reportedly held staff at gunpoint and made away with five industrial AC chillers and two deep freezers.
Qasim Ali, who heads the Kahna Police Chowki, said the investigation moved swiftly, thanks to surveillance footage and other digital tracking methods.
He credited modern policing tools for enabling the quick identification and capture of the culprits within just a few days.
During interrogation, the suspects admitted to their involvement and claimed that the hall’s owner had not paid their wages.
Officers now believe that the robbery was more than just an act of greed; it was part of a larger conflict between the waiters and management.
The stolen equipment was recovered in full from the suspects’ possession.
Authorities have registered a formal case under multiple sections of the law.
Police are continuing their probe to determine whether others within the establishment may have helped coordinate or conceal the operation.
The brazen nature of the theft has sparked security concerns.
As the wedding industry in Lahore continues to flourish, especially in affluent areas like DHA, event spaces often employ large numbers of workers.
Often, they can be temporary workers as well who get daily wages.
This case has highlighted how such arrangements can lead to vulnerabilities when conflicts arise.
Residents and business owners in the area expressed shock over the incident.
Some called for stricter background checks and surveillance measures, urging management to address employee concerns before tensions escalate.
While the case has now reached the courts, police said they remain on alert for similar offences.
They are advising all wedding and banquet halls in the area to upgrade their security.
With wedding season in full swing, the authorities stressed the importance of transparent payments for such events.
