Many are condemning the glorification of weapons.
The Karachi police have arrested TikTok influencer Amna Baig after a video showing her firing into the air went viral.
The clip, posted on Pakistan’s Independence Day, drew widespread criticism from the public.
The incident occurred shortly after midnight on August 14, 2025, near Double Road, Bengali Camp, in Korangi.
Amna was accompanied by two men identified as Owais and Saeed Khan.
According to investigators, Owais initially fired several rounds before handing the weapon to Amna.
He guided her hand while Saeed allegedly encouraged the reckless act.
The video, which quickly spread across social media platforms, shows the young influencer firing into the air as the two men cheered her on.
The police have confirmed that a case has been registered under Sections 324, 337-H(ii), 109, and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
SHO Korangi confirmed that Amna Baig is currently in custody while further investigation is underway.
Adding to the controversy, reports revealed that Amna was previously associated with the Police Quick Response Force.
This raised concerns about how someone linked to law enforcement could participate in such an act.
Many are condemning the glorification of weapons by social media influencers and urging authorities to adopt stricter measures to curb the trend.
A user remarked: “This will not stop if the authorities keep letting them off with just a warning.”
Law enforcement officials have repeatedly warned against celebratory gunfire, which has caused numerous injuries and deaths.
This is not the first time social media personalities have faced legal trouble over the display of firearms.
In July 2025, TikTok star Kashif Zameer was arrested after posting videos in which he flaunted weapons and glorified gangster culture.
The police seized firearms from his possession and registered two separate FIRs, with officials alleging that his content was damaging Pakistan’s image abroad.
In October 2024, popular YouTuber Saad ur Rehman, widely known as Ducky Bhai, and his wife Aroob Jatoi were briefly detained.
This was after Aroob showcased a firearm on her Instagram account.
The couple issued written apologies following their arrest, which resulted in their release without formal charges.
The arrest of Amna Baig once again highlights the troubling rise of reckless stunts by online celebrities who often overlook the consequences.
Authorities have stressed that incidents of this nature will not be taken lightly, signalling a stricter crackdown on the misuse of firearms.
