"Some gestures can never be repaid. Just grateful."

SS Rajamouli was left touched by an 83-year-old Japanese woman’s heartfelt gift for him.

Since his blockbuster RRR hit cinemas in 2022, it has taken the world by storm and continues to entertain audiences.

He was in Japan for a special screening of the film.

During his visit, he received a surprise from a loyal fan, leaving him blown away.

The elderly woman gifted him 1,000 cranes because RRR made her happy. She waited outside in the cold for Rajamouli so she could give him the present.

SS Rajamouli acknowledged her kind gesture and shared pictures of himself with her on X.

His caption read: “In Japan, they make origami cranes and gift them to their loved ones for good luck and health.

“This 83-year-old woman made 1,000 of them to bless us because RRR made her happy.

“She just sent the gift and was waiting outside in the cold. Some gestures can never be repaid. Just grateful.”

A picture showed the director holding the gift while posing with the fan.

Another featured the woman hugging Rajamouli’s wife while the third showed a close-up of the gift bag. It had the woman’s picture alongside images of Ram Charan and Jr NTR dancing to ‘Naatu Naatu‘.

The gift bag featured a note that read:

“I am 83 years old. I wanna dance with RRR every day. I made it one by one.

“Rajamouli garu, Welcome to Japan.”

The special screening took place on March 18, 2024, and it was reported that tickets were sold out less than a minute after going on sale.

After the screening, SS Rajamouli was left overwhelmed as fans started cheering for him and even gave a standing ovation to the director.

Meanwhile, SS Rajamouli divided opinion when he claimed the Malayalam film industry produces “better actors”.

He said: “It is with jealousy and pain that I admit the Malayalam film industry produces better actors.

“In this film [Premalu] too, they did a fantastic job.”

Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran expressed gratitude for the comments but said:

“I take this compliment from the legend with all humility. But I also think that there are great actors everywhere in the film industry.

“Maybe at the moment, Malayalam actors are lucky to have great content available to us to show our craft and skills more regularly and consistently.

“Great films are being made in Malayalam and I’m very happy.”
