Shah Rukh Khan has officially joined the billionaire club, according to the latest Hurun India Rich List 2025.

The 59-year-old actor’s net worth is estimated at £1.03 billion, making him one of the world’s wealthiest entertainers.

This puts him alongside global celebrities such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Rihanna, Tiger Woods, and Taylor Swift, whose net worth is pegged at £1.18 billion by Forbes.

Other Bollywood names on the list include Juhi Chawla, Hrithik Roshan, Amitabh Bachchan, and filmmaker Karan Johar.

Often described as Bollywood’s king of romance, SRK has spent more than three decades in cinema.

Beyond acting, he runs the production house Red Chillies Entertainment and co-owns Indian Premier League team Kolkata Knight Riders.

Anas Rahman Junaid, founder and chief researcher at Hurun India, said:

“Khan’s billionaire status is driven mainly by his stakes in Red Chillies Entertainment and Knight Rider Sports.”

Shah Rukh’s income is also boosted by films, brand endorsements, and real estate investments worldwide.

Mr Junaid said Shah Rukh’s billionaire status highlights the shift in India’s economy:

“As the Indian economy matures and moves to its next stage of wealth creation, we are seeing new centres of value emerge beyond traditional sectors like manufacturing, IT and banking.”

He added that sports, entertainment, and IP-driven ventures are now “serious engines of wealth creation in India”.

The list has drawn comparisons to the United States, where rich lists once dominated by industrialists now feature sports-team owners, media moguls, and celebrities such as Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Oprah Winfrey, and Beyoncé.

Forbes has noted that “it’s rare for their net worths to stretch all the way to ten figures”, with fewer than two dozen celebrities globally achieving billionaire status.

While four other Bollywood figures and their families feature on Hurun’s list, Shah Rukh Khan’s wealth is ranked significantly higher.

Juhi Chawla and her family sit at number two with £650 million.

Hrithik Roshan follows in third with £192m, while Karan Johar is estimated at £148 million. Amitabh Bachchan and his family are listed with £135 million.

In 2024, Karan sold a 50% stake in his Dharma Productions company to billionaire Adar Poonawala, India’s top vaccine maker, for £88m.

India now has more than 350 billionaires, with industrialists Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani retaining the top spots, according to Hurun India.
