"she has approached her favourite actor Ranveer Singh for Khan's spot"
Reportedly, Ranveer Singh will replace Shahrukh Khan in Don 3, after reports that SRK has decided to leave the hit franchise.
If the rumours are true, this will bring about the end of SRK’s time as the iconic Don character, a role he made his own.
Ranveer, on the other hand, is reaching superstardom in the world of Bollywood. He may just be the most bankable actor with three consecutive hits in two years.
Singh’s last three roles have showcased why he has become one of Bollywood’s biggest stars as they are all completely different.
He played a ruthless king in Padmaavat (2018), then a corrupt policeman in Simmba (2018) and an ambitious rapper in Gully Boy (2019).
It now looks like the makers of Don 3 have now opted for Ranveer after Shahrukh reportedly walked away from the project.
If Ranveer does come on board, then it will see him reunite with Zoya Akhtar, who has directed two films featuring the actor.
A report in Mumbai Mirror revealed:
“Khan has opted out of Don 3 for personal reasons and the Zoya Akhtar production franchise is still in the works, but with Khan bowing out, she is left without the main lead.
“We hear she has approached her favourite actor Ranveer Singh for Khan’s spot and the two are still in talks.”
Zoya and Ranveer previously came together for 2015’s Dil Dhadakne Do and Gully Boy. Both were commercial hits at the box office.
With the previous successes evident, Don 3 will be a highly anticipated film to look out for.
The news follows that Priyanka Chopra who was also part of the Don movies was not going to be part of Don 3 as well.
The Don franchise with SRK began after a remake of the original Amitabh Bachchan film Don released in 1978.
Ranveer is currently getting ready for his upcoming film ’83 where he will play former Indian cricket captain Kapil Dev.
The film is based on India’s historic win at the 1983 Cricket World Cup. It is set to release on April 10, 2020.
Meanwhile, Shahrukh was presented with an honorary doctorate in Philanthropy at the University of Law in London. It is his second doctorate from the university.
SRK took to Twitter to share a picture from the ceremony.
Following the event, the actor spoke about charity. He said that it should be done in silence and it loses its purpose if someone starts talking about their charitable work.
Shahrukh added that because of his privilege as a public personality, he can champion causes that are close to his heart.
