Ranveer Singh Banned by FWICE Amid 'Don 3' Dispute f

Ranveer had been issued multiple notices by FWICE.

Ranveer Singh has been banned by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees in a major and unprecedented industry development.

The decision was announced following a bitter and very public dispute with filmmaker Farhan Akhtar over Don 3.

The Federation issued a Non-Cooperation Directive against Ranveer after Farhan formally approached the body regarding the actor’s abrupt exit.

The complaint was submitted through the Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association, of which Farhan Akhtar is a registered member.

FWICE examined the complaint and the surrounding circumstances thoroughly before arriving at the decision. Their official note read:

“Considering the conduct displayed towards the Federation and the stakeholders associated with the project, the office bearers of FWICE have resolved to issue a Non-Cooperation Directive (NCD) against Mr. Ranveer Singh.”

The directive effectively instructs the entire film industry to refrain from working with the actor until the matter is resolved.

The Federation also made a pointed appeal to producers, production houses and industry bodies to stand firmly united on the issue.

“FWICE therefore appeals to all producers, producers’ associations, and industry bodies to stand united with the Federation in discouraging and eliminating such unprofessional practices in the larger interest of the Indian film and television industry and all its stakeholders.”

Ranveer had been issued multiple notices by FWICE before this decision was announced, but his responses were dismissive of the body’s authority.

The actor reportedly replied to those notices stating that FWICE was not the appropriate forum to address what he considered a purely contractual dispute.

That response clearly did not sit well with the Federation, whose leadership moved decisively to issue the non-cooperation directive against him.

Farhan Akhtar also filed a legal suit against Ranveer and is said to be seeking damages of around Rs 40 crore.

The significant sum reflects the fact that Don 3 had already entered pre-production before Ranveer’s departure brought the project to a halt.

The dispute was also reportedly taken to the Producers Guild of India, which advised both parties to resolve the matter amicably.

The Guild stopped short of pursuing a formal legal route, urging dialogue instead, but that approach clearly did not produce a resolution.

To understand how the feud began, one must go back to 2023 when Ranveer Singh was officially announced as the lead of Don 3.

He was set to take over the iconic role from Shah Rukh Khan, who had starred in Don (2006) and Don 2 (2011) respectively.

The announcement generated enormous excitement among fans and positioned Don 3 as one of the most anticipated Bollywood productions in the pipeline.

However, by December 2025, reports began surfacing that serious cracks had developed between Ranveer, Farhan and producer Ritesh Sidhwani.

Ranveer Singh is said to have walked out of the film abruptly, with reports suggesting he demanded significant changes be made to the existing script.

Those demands did not go down well with the makers, who had already invested considerable time and resources into pre-production work.
