Ranveer Singh Walks Away from Don 3?

Farhan Akhtar’s directorial return, Don 3, appears to have hit another roadblock as Ranveer Singh has reportedly stepped away from the project.

It was recently announced that the film was back on track, with Ranveer Singh having started preparations and the shoot scheduled for the end of January 2026.

However, Pinkvilla has suggested that the actor has stepped away from Don 3 to prioritise other films, amid Dhurandhar‘s success.

A source claimed: “He is keen to collaborate with filmmakers like Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Atlee, and at the same time, he doesn’t want to be seen in back-to-back gangster films, especially since Dhurandhar is already established in that space.

“That’s one of the reasons he has asked Jai Mehta to prepone the shoot of Pralay.

“Ranveer is keen on fast-tracking the project and bringing it on floors sooner than planned.”

Pralay is a zombie-based film that explores how far a man will go to save his family under extreme circumstances.

The source continued: “Now that he has walked out of Don 3, Ranveer is now personally involved in aligning dates and schedules for Jai Mehta’s film to ensure the film moves quickly.

“Right after the release of Dhurandhar, Ranveer was scheduled to begin preparations for Don 3.

“However, given the current situation, the film is now pushed.”

Don 3 has faced numerous challenges since its announcement in 2023.

Shah Rukh Khan was expected to reprise his role, but the actor did not seem keen on the return, leading to the makers searching for a new lead.

Ranveer Singh was later cast as the new Don, dividing opinion.

In a statement, Ranveer said he had been “dreaming” of playing the iconic character, telling fans that he would take Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan’s legacy forward with the role.

Kiara Advani was cast as the leading lady but she exited the project shortly after announcing her pregnancy.

Kriti Sanon reportedly replaced Kiara.

Ranveer’s reported step back from Don 3 marks another challenge for the makers, especially due to the previous issues that have caused the film to be delayed.

It reflects the challenges of aligning schedules for high-profile projects in Bollywood.
