“I will not tolerate personal attacks, we are all human beings"
Pakistani minister Fawad Chaudhry slapped TV host Mubashir Lucman at a wedding over alleged videos with TikTok sensation Hareem Shah.
Following reports of the altercation, the Federal Minister for Science and Technology admitted that he slapped the TV host at a wedding.
On his show, Lucman had invited fellow anchor Rai Saqib Kharal. He claimed that there were several “indecent videos” circulating of Chaudhry with Hareem Shah.
Kharal went on to say that he had seen them.
Chaudhry was not happy with the accusations and at the wedding of provincial minister Mohsin Leghari’s son, he confronted and slapped Lucman.
Senior members of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) were at the Lahore-based wedding.
It was reported that other guests eventually separated the pair.
On January 5, 2020, Chaudhry defended his actions on a TV show. He first said he was a human being before going on to slam the allegations.
He said: “Ministries come and go.
“I will not tolerate personal attacks, we are all human beings and will react when someone makes such false allegations.”
When initial reports of the slapping incident came to light, the Pakistani minister called out Lucman.
He posted on Twitter:
“People like Mubashir Lucman have nothing to do with journalism. “It is everyone’s duty to expose [such people].”
Following the incident, Kharal has since taken to Twitter to apologise for his comments.

This is not the first time that Chaudhry has taken action against a TV host. In June 2019, the federal minister had slapped Sami Ibrahim.
He had claimed that “certain quarters” within the ruling party, of which Chaudhry is a part of, were conspiring against Prime Minister Imran Khan’s government and the Pakistan Army.
Hareem Shah has been in the headlines for various reasons but in October 2019, she shared a video of herself walking around the conference room at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It angered the Prime Minister who subsequently ordered an investigation as to how Shah was allowed into the premises and given access to record a video that went viral.
In December 2019, she also shared an “indecent video call,” allegedly from a cabinet minister in which she can be seen speaking to Minister of Railways Sheikh Rasheed.
She was heard saying: “Listen to me, have I ever revealed anything of yours until now? Then why don’t you talk to me anymore?”
