"You have crowned a new No. 1."
Dhurandhar has officially rewritten Hindi cinema history, extending its extraordinary box office run and cementing its position as a landmark moment for the industry.
On January 6, 2025, the film surpassed the Hindi language earnings of Pushpa: The Rise, becoming the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time.
As per figures shared by the makers, Dhurandhar has collected Rs 831 crore net in India, reaching the milestone after 33 days in cinemas.
Jio Studios celebrated the achievement with a poster calling Dhurandhar “India’s highest-grossing Hindi film,” featuring Ranveer Singh in a commanding on-screen look.
The poster also carried the message, “Thank you, India. Ganpati Bappa morya,” as the production house reiterated the Rs 831 crore net collection.
Previously, Pushpa 2, led by Allu Arjun, held the record with its Hindi dubbed version earning Rs 821 crore domestically.
However, some trade analysts have raised questions, claiming Dhurandhar stood at around Rs 782 crore on Tuesday and still needs close to Rs 40 crore.
Despite the ongoing debate, the film has already set a new benchmark as the highest collection by any Indian film in a single language.
Other major Hindi earners include Chhaava with Rs 601 crore, Jawan with Rs 586 crore, followed by Stree 2, Gadar 2, Pathaan, Animal, and Baahubali 2.
Directed, written and co-produced by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar marks his ambitious return to the spy thriller genre.
Ranveer Singh headlines the film as Hamza, an Indian operative infiltrating terror networks in Karachi, delivering one of his most intense performances to date.
The film dramatises major historical events, including the 1999 Kandahar hijack, the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks and the Lyari gang wars.
Its depiction of Lyari has reportedly upset sections of Pakistani audiences, prompting announcements of a counter film titled Mera Lyari to present an alternative narrative.
Dhurandhar also stars Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal and Sanjay Dutt, all earning praise for their powerful performances.
The expansive ensemble cast further includes Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, Manav Gohil, Danish Pandor, Saumya Tandon, Gaurav Gera and Naveen Kaushik.
With its scale, subject matter and record-breaking numbers, Dhurandhar continues to dominate conversations across South Asian cinema.
The film’s blend of real-world events, star power and scale has resonated strongly with South Asian audiences, fuelling sustained interest weeks after release.
