Honsla Rakh continues to break box office records.
Punjabi film Honsla Rakh is predicted to become the third highest-grossing Indian film in Canada.
Directed by Amarjit Singh Saron, Honsla Rakh is a comedy-drama film with Diljit Dosanjh and Shinda Grewal as the lead characters.
The film was released on October 15, 2021, and is currently earning a lot of praise in cinemas and maintaining a stronghold at the box office.
The romance-comedy film has become the first Indian film to break the $2 million barrier in Canada since the Covid-19 pandemic.
Chal Mera Putt 2 has also grossed over $2 million but the majority of the film’s success was generated before the pandemic.
The Diljit Dosanjh starrer is currently the fourth highest-grossing Indian film in Canada.
Padmaavat, Dangal, Chal Mera Putt 2, Honsla Rakh and PK are the only five films to surpass the $2 million mark.
Six Hindi films and four Punjabi films currently make up the top 10 films in Canada.
As Canada has a large Punjabi community, Punjabi films have a major presence in the Canadian market.
Diljit Dosanjh stars in the comedy film alongside Shehnaaz Gill and Sonam Bajwa.
Diljit plays an NRI in Canada while Shehnaaz plays his wife. They go on a date and it results in an accidental pregnancy.
She then files for divorce and insists that Diljit should have custody of the unborn child.
Shinda Grewal, the son of actor Gippy Grewal, plays Diljit’s son.
In the film, Diljit develops as a single father and takes care of his son. As his son grows older, Diljit falls in love with another woman, played by Sonam.
He tries to woo her in a bid to have a mother figure for his son. However, things are turned upside down when his first wife returns.

In November 2021, Diljit and Sonam paid a surprise visit to their fans during the film’s screening in Canada.
Diljit took to social media to share several videos of the surprise visits.
In the videos, the fans could not control their joy.
Upon their visit to the cinema screenings, both Diljit and Sonam thanked their fans for all the love that they have given to Honsla Rakh.
